Request: Important interface enhancements

(1) FDev, please have icons to differentiate between turrets, gimbals, and fixed weapons in the module selection dialogue for engineering.

Today I loaded up an Asp Explorer with a mix of class-1 multicannons, and couldn't tell them apart when I was doing the engineering. I had to store the ones I didn't want to engineer to get them out of the list.

(2) FDev, please make the animation of weapon/modules equipping on the ship run in the background with the outfitting menus immediately available. The animations are very cool, but after the millionth time watching them you start grudging the loss of those three seconds of your life over and over.
 
I'd even go one step further and would have symbols which tell you the exact slot of each weapon.
Yes, good point! I wasn't thinking about this, since I have certain "runner" ships that I ferry modules around with for engineering; the modules don't stay in these ships. But if you actually fitted a ship as you wanted it, weapons in proper places, you'd definitely want to make sure the right stuff gets engineered.

Hmmmm .... A while back the modifications were specific to the mount-type, you couldn't apply a pinned gimbal-weapon mod to turrets etc, when they removed that then maybe they should have made it more obvious what you were selecting to modify.

Ew, that sounds terrible. Also not tremendously realistic; the weapon is the same after all. Glad they changed it. :)
