Request: Less "game-y" materials storage

So I can only collect 150 Polonium, even though my Yttrium is at 0? I guess my special "Polonium storage only!!!! XXX" locker must be full?

The current system of having a maximum limit of each type of material makes this feel like a game. It's completely arbitrary, and it doesn't even affect game balance. Who cares if I want to grind Polonium 24/7 until I have 999,999,992 of them?

I propose this change: each ship has its own inherent materials storage, which is a total value unique to that ship. So, a Sidewinder gets 2,500 maybe, and an Anaconda gets 250,000. You can scoopy-scoop whatever you want, different materials, all the same material, until you hit that limit. But then when you return to a station, your ship "empties" and your collected materials go into your stored reserves.

Much more immersive.

Only of belugas, i dont want to have to throw away mats :(
Honestly, if the limits are set reasonably, this will easily let you collect much more. Remember, your ship empties into your main storage every time you dock.

Also, the Beluga would likely have hella mats storage. 😎

well it used to be like that, and that caused plenty of "issues" back then... as for many it was a problem that you needed to clear out room for some specific material and you would eventually throw something away that you needed later...I remember I did throw away alot of guardian data some 14 days before we learned that we needed that data... so I had to go and get it again... Now we do not need to worry about that some other material takes up space for some more at the moment wanted material.

And as you are talking about polonium are it for FSD jump boost? if so that got changed to better match the old max of how many jumps you could store using the old shared storage.

Thanks for the insights!

No, I never jump boost. Just an ordinary mats collector here.
