So I can only collect 150 Polonium, even though my Yttrium is at 0? I guess my special "Polonium storage only!!!! XXX" locker must be full?
The current system of having a maximum limit of each type of material makes this feel like a game. It's completely arbitrary, and it doesn't even affect game balance. Who cares if I want to grind Polonium 24/7 until I have 999,999,992 of them?
I propose this change: each ship has its own inherent materials storage, which is a total value unique to that ship. So, a Sidewinder gets 2,500 maybe, and an Anaconda gets 250,000. You can scoopy-scoop whatever you want, different materials, all the same material, until you hit that limit. But then when you return to a station, your ship "empties" and your collected materials go into your stored reserves.
Much more immersive.
