I'm aware that,over the years, there have been applications for basically managing and opening numerous other applications at once.

Given the increasing number of excellent third party apps for ED, are there any recommendations for such a program?

I know that I can create a quick .bat file to do this with a shortcut to that but I was looking for something a little more, 'elegant'.

I.e. I want a program that manages a number of shortcuts to other applications so that I can tell it what I want to open and, with one click, it will open them all for me rather than me having to open each individually.

I use EDFX for exactly what you describe.

it is but it will also launch and close lots of things for you, you dont have to use the gfx post processing if you dont want to. But it will do what you want.
