Requesting a G-Force meter on the HUD

Can we please have a G-Force meter/counter somewhere on the HUD? Even in space it's important to have this info.

Hope my tone doesn't come across as bossy lol, I'm "Kindly" requesting one :D

What do you guys think?

Personally I think it's pointless. The Viper and Vulture seem to be the only ships capable of causing redouts. Our body's seem to be unaffected by the extreme stresses we put them through in game. Always been confused by the fact that we can redout but not blackout.

The devs seem to want to keep the HUD as uncluttered as possible. Flight path vector would be much useful then a G meter

They can happen in almost any ship (I've exceeded g limits in my FDL and even Clipper), but even in the most maneuverable ships, I don't think a g force meter is necessary.

Agreed.

Pointless because the game doesn't simulate the effects of g-force. Current jet fighters have them because it's a serious thing in real life. It's not in ED.

lol, pointless is a strong word.... there IS a point to it. Why pointless? Current fighter jets have them....

Fighter jet's and certain passenger jets have them because you will fall unconscious or die if you exceed structural limits. The HUD on these ships provide useful data, G reading is not useful. A bit like a Boy racer installing those G-Force apps on the Subaru Impreza :)

Not necessarily a g-force meter but as someone already said, a flight path vector would be GREAT. I'd love to be able to see how much my Clipper is drifting.

Because they matter on actual aircraft. Pull too many g's and you will blackout, hurt yourself, or break your plane.

None of these things can happen in Elite. The ship doesn't take damage, the pilot is unharmed, you just get a little warning and a momentary flash of red on the screen.

Request to ED keep the HUD simple it's got all the necessary data clearly displayed, unlike the "other" space sim which was an over complex mess last time I looked (and yes I bought it as well :) you can never have too many space sims!)

I would love to have different HUD manufacturers in the game (i would pay for it too). :)
It is nice that you can change color and all but all the ships hud looks the same. I think it could be manageable.

Surely you know when you're pulling too many G's? Doesn't the screen start going red and you get a textual warning? Pretty sure that's what happened when I pulled a high G turn in my FDL the other day.

Honestly I think the effect is progressive enough already. Aside from the Viper which goes into high Gs quite rapidly, others just have the effect appear gradually, but even when it slightly turns red (or black), you're still a long way from reaching the limit.

It serves as a proper "warning" that you should go easy on the stick, I don't think a bar or number would be better, nor even needed most of the time. It's not like it happens often anyway.

Albeit I'm curious why collisions which send you into an uncontrollable spin don't actually lead to a loss of consciousness despite their brutality.

I strongly oppose this.

This is first and foremost a video game and therefore the single most important factor is FUN.

If you add a G-meter you then pave the way for "let's add G-forces" which is a terribad idea.

Play Star Citizen if you want to know just how crap it can be.
