Requesting expressions of interest in supporting a charity event in Melbourne Australia.

In Melbourne, Australia each year, the Good Friday Appeal is run to raise funds for the Royal Childrens' Hospital (RCH). One of the event's run to support this appeal is known as "Neil's Wheel".

Neil's Wheel is run by local Melbourne radio station 3AW morning presenter, Neil Mitchell. The event involves Neil selecting people to ride the Southern Cross Ferris Wheel (a mini version of the London Millennium Wheel) until they have each raised $10000 (Aus Dollars). The event is currently scheduled to run on 12 Mar, subject to local COVID restrictions.

I have been in contact with Neil's producers about being involved and my angle is that I would ride the wheel while live streaming me playing Elite Dangerous.

My hope is that, apart from raising money for the hospital, I would help expose a positive side of the gamer community to the general public of Melbourne and maybe Australia.

But, understandably, 3AW needs to know what the level of potential support may be in terms of willingness to sponsor my ride in the form of donations to the Good Friday Appeal. Hence this post.

If you think you would be willing to support me by donating to the appeal, please respond.

I realise that those outside of Melbourne or even Australia may ask why should I support this? My answer is that the RCH in Melbounre is one of the world leaders in childhood disease and cancer research. Some of this research has been used world wide to help children in all countries and communities. Your support in terms of donations will allow the RCH to continue this work as well as doing the day to day work of tending sick children in Victoria, Australia. If we all were willing to donate a small amount, the sheer numbers of Elite Dangerous players could potentially raise thousands if not millions.

At this stage, I am not asking for donations as my involvement is not yet finalised. But if I get sufficent interest, and 3AW select me to ride the wheel, I will follow up with a post as to how to donate and when/where you can see my stream of my ride.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your feedback.
