Having to return to the same Search Zone to collect a couple more commodities seems a bit rubbish.

Yup. Sometimes the mission POI doesn't contain the thing I was supposed to find and I have to jump out of the system and then back to receive another POI.
It would be better if after you collect everything in the zone and still don't have enough to complete the mission, it would find you another zone right away.

I was thinking that having to return immediately to the same, now replenished, search zone is a particularly poor experience.

Hey Faded Glory, I've spoken with our mission specialist and this is working as intended. As long as the POI doesn't disappear before you have collected what you need then this is fine. Feel free to revisit the area in a different instance to get more.
