Requirements

Hi,
My 16 year old son is looking to buy a pc with the money he’s saved up - and a big part of that is because he wants to get Planet Zoo (having been a big Zoo Tycoon fan when he was younger).

The spec he’s looking at is below recommended requirements but he seems to think it’s above minimum requirements (i5-3570, NVIDIA 1050 TI, 8G RAM). would really appreciate a steer on two things as I’m not particularly technical so am a bit lost with some of the terms! Firstly - is that really above minimum requirements and secondly is the gap of speed/quality of the game between minimum and recommended requirements so vast that it’s not worth it?

Any advice much appreciated!

vs. minimum requirements listed in Steam for the game:
CPU i5-3570 is better than listed minimum (i5-2500)
GPU GTX 1050ti seems to fall slightly behind GTX 770, or in some situations quite a bit, depends
8GB ram meets the minimum requirement

GTX 1050ti is 4GB, so is better than the GTX770. I have one too. No issues with the game.
I would say the GTX 1050ti is perfect when you are looking in the midrange of video cards. Affordable and really good.

Overall the GTX150ti is slightly better.

Difference is minimal between both cards, but the extra VRAM sure will help.
It wasn't about correcting you 👍
I know, but I also hate to present false information (even if I think I've researched it enough at the time of presenting it, and it later turns to be not completely accurate). :)
As usual, actual experience trumps theoretical info, and we both just want to help the OP. (y)

The set-up seems good so far. My PC is slightly under the recommended specs as well (i5 6600k / 16gb ram / GTX970) and I can play the game on "high" settings pretty good. But I do notice the fps drops in bigger Zoos. Nonetheless your set up should work fine, maybe you can upgrade to 16gb ram, as thats not that expensive and really makes a difference.

When I look at my videocard memory and system memory usage, I would defenitly go for at least 12 gb of system memory when choosing a 4gb gtx1050 ti. If you go for a graphicscard with 6 or 8 gb of ram, 8 gb system memory will be sufficient.

Great - many thanks for all the replies! Really appreciate people sharing their experiences and has helped me out loads. Cheers.
