RES - Are they supposed to be sidewinder only?

Hi
I've just been in Barnard's Star RESs for the last two hours and the only pirates i've come across are sidewinders. Is this normal?
I normally hunt at nav points and I would get a wide variety of pirates so i could make enough for it to be worth it.

There's a few preset instance types for RESs. Enter the RES then save/reload until you get a good one. I think this is getting fixed in 1.1, though they may have just removed the all pirate preset.

I have better luck in nav beacons though, even with this trick.

I suspected as much> I'll just stick to nav points from now. Its a shame though because hunting in planetary rings is loads of fun.

The game world responds dynamically to your actions so if you're wiping out the footsoldiers in sidewinders and eating into the pirate faction's takings they'll dispatch mobs of enforcers in more dangerous ships out to deal with you. If you really stir up some trouble that's when a Pirate Lord will come screaming in to deal with you!

Sssooo... How long, exactly, does that take?

Depends on how stylish your kills are, stylish takedowns are known to enrage pirates. I think your elite ranking is also a factor, but I don't know the inner workings of the background simulator.

I want to believe T_T

Yeah, right.

"I want to believe"

Never seen this, and i kill pirates all day long. And i have done so since beta. But i dont get sidewinders only though. I see a variety of ship types.

Trick is to dump exactly 83 tons of scrap.

That will bait out a stream of Novice Pirate lords worth more credits than you can math.

Note: I may or may not have hallucinated the above.

It is not normal compared to before 1.1 patch. We used to get a variety of ship types, and Anaconda etc mixed in. Now it's either off or on. You can get into an instance and get one Anaconda every ten minutes. Then get into a different instance and get only sidewinders. Then get into another and get Sidey's and Cobra's only. So it's very inconsistent.

It appears like the spawn tables are either messed up, not randomizing, or something. I've spent many hours testing it and invited many people to join me in figuring it out. We (4 of us) spent many hours last night trying to get something but Sidey's to spawn without success. We even tried changing out our ships to different types (I.E. Asp, Cobra, Python, Anaconda) which did not seem to change anything.

All of us leaving the instance and coming back in would change the spawn types but would not allow a good mix of ships spawning.
