RES difficulties- Help for a new player

So I recently started bounty hunting in my Cobra. I was at Kremainn, and the first time I went to a high intensity RES I made about 1.4 million in one play session. Recently, I slogged, with my C4 FSD, down to imperial space. There, I went RES hunting, multiple times, in different systems, but I barely got any money. I figured it must be and imperial space thing, so I slogged back up to Kremainn. But, unlike last time I visited the RES, when I found a good supply of Cobras, and the occasional Python or fed drop ship wanted for 150k, this time I found about 2 Cobras, 1 sidewinder wing, a type 9, and a diamondback explorer. In half an hour. I made about 80k on their bounties. Then a clean viper in a wing of 3 vipers flew in front of my lasers, and I was forced to flee as the fed security service and the viper wing turned on me. So, what am I doing wrong? Are RES sites just that's random? Is there a way to improve spawns? I really had fun the first time I went RES hunting, but now it's mostly the waiting game, for almost no profit. Killed the fun. Btw, I play in solo, if it makes a difference.

Reset the spawn instance by logging off to main menu and logging on again. Alternatively jump into supercruise and then back to res site again until you get a good spawn.

Or, don't do this, because it's cheeseball, terribly lame, and awfully boring.

RES spawns are based on RES intensity and the security level of the system - that can change with the background simulation, or with powerplay faction control. But it's possible that you just got an unlucky spawn.

Instead of being cheese, try doing something else for awhile and then coming back. You could try flying combat missions for example - keep in mind, your targets in those missions usually have bounties in addition to the mission rewards, so it can be a decent way to make some cash - and I guarantee you'll have more fun than logging on and off over and over trying to spawn camp.
