RES "fixed"

I have no idea how good(bad) the AI was before. Was mostly trading (omg, so slow and booring) and the few times I did end up in battle, my poorly equiped Cobra usually ended up with hull damage. But I started to play again now with the 1.3 patch and discovered these "new" Combat zones (yeah, it was awhile ago I played) and it didn't take long for me to progress in both ranks and money. It didn't take long before I had a maxed out Cobra, killing Pythons and Condas left to right, and now I have a Vulture soon maxed out too.

I would lie if I said I never took real damage and had to run, but overall, if the AI was easier to kill before than it is now, it really would have been shooting fish in a barrel. As the AI works now you have at least to plan a little beforehand rather going in guns all blazing. Usually never afraid of the enemy/target, but still showing proper respect since it can get quite nasty if you do mistakes rather quickly. I'm having fun at least :) And finally doing some progress, seems bounty hunting/combat is my thing after all. Who would knew? :p

I believe it depends on a various amount of things, like security level, but I'm having odd times trying to piece together, it seems that with Hudson the only thing that works for maximum effect is Federation Medium Security, I haven't tried Federation High Security yet, if someone wants to come back and give me the findings. I received back to back Pythons in Zaragas.

Really? I've been doing it the other way round - go for the big fellow in the middle then deal with the pesky little eagles. What do other people do?
No, always wingmen first. They pop faster, but there lasers are a nuissance to your shields.
Basically, the bigger ships usually have a mix of cannons and lasers, so they are rather inefficient against a vulture, whereas two or three small eagles attacking can make a difference.
Also, the small ones often run away, so to maximize bounties, kill the wingmen first.

Of course, I saw 3 Pythons in a wing a couple of days ago (Mostly Harmless, of course) - those in current rankings, and they would take my vulture apart, I think.

The AI is a bit more challenging than before. They do try to keep a distance and go for jousting matches, but if you can tank some damage (vulture or python...), you can pop them quite fast. I think the AI could do a lot better, but it may just be too much then, at least for some people, or bounty hunters in vipers or cobras.
It really depends on your play style. I always fly with a lot of changes to the throttle, and then the AI is still quite manageable.

900K the first hour in hi conflict RES, clippers, 1 python, 1 dropship, mostly clippers.
Swapped out ships, went back, nothing but sidewinders and eagles, 100K
The AI is much more challenging.
Back to trading.

I'm guessing this is system dependent: I tried about four or five systems last night and just tried another two in my lunch break and still getting the same 'small fry' fest. Still, nice one getting 16 million, those of you how have been lucky enough to find good spawns :)

I agree the AI is getting better but its still brain dead... last night I had a ''fight" with a elite cobra it just flew in a line whiles dodging some of my shots

Hah, SJA confirmed there's a bug that causes them to forget to put pips on weapons sometimes - it'll get fixed soon(tm).

Tell me about Python's fire power.
I will mount 3x 3C Beam lasers and better Power Disruptor for start (Starter Package).

He is beast with that configuration?

Oh yeah, but C3 pulses are more than enough actually. Beams will overheat you faster than the energy drying up. Or add some heat sinks, but that's not really good if you plan to stay out there for hours.

I would go with Pulse Lasers and a Kinetic weapon, but from my understanding was that Pulse Lasers are better than Beam Lasers.

RES still sucks...
Nothing bigger than adder in pristine metal-rich....

Not true.
Things have changed: yes you can still have a lot of small/medium ships, but they are very high ranked now (Dangerous, Deadly) with decent bounties. They come in wings, so a wing of one Cobra and two Vipers takes a similar effort to beating a single Dangerous Python, with a very similar overall Bounty.
A spam of big ships is still possible (I've had two of them in a dozen sessions), but it's more rare. And now the Security level of the System is important for the spam.
Elite big ships are very very rare but they spam, sometimes... I've seen two Elite Pythons last night.

Two gimbled beams and a fixed pulse is working quite well for me in the large pyth hardpoints. Just stagger it a bit when firing.

We have already replied to his question, some posts ago, with similar replies, but he told us that he cannot equip pulses or bursts, because he have a problem with flashing lights.

Yes I used to do the same thing but it's a bit tougher now. Two Deadly Cobras can make quite a mess of your shields if you just ignore them.
