RES Patch - Bounty Hunting resurrected?

Let's get it out of the way. Discuss it. Did it fix the issue for my fellow Bounty Hunters that couldn't live without RES farming or is it still "dead"?

Disclaimer: It was never dead for me and I still managed to do the same RES farming before the patch and actually enjoyed new methods of hunting. I'm glad though that there ended up being a bug that has now been fixed for people that were having trouble.

Seems even better, now spawning large numbers of big elite/deadly ranked ships in the RES site, handy if you want to work on your combat rank :)

Awesome. Sounds like it's back.

Fml, I only found RES with Novice/Harmless/Mostly Harmless. :(

It's likely an instance issue, just as it always was. It could be related to security rating too. That's a variable to think about now.

The Elite Pythons are mounting a very strong shield defense, this instance is dream first time we've seen wanted highest ranked ships in a RES.

I`d rather have better rewards for roaming kills (with acceptable integrity damage from interdictions) and better missions+rewards than the dull routine of RES.

What I'd like to know is whether or not population also affects RES. I'm in a low-security high-intensity RES, but there doesn't appear to be spawning anything useful. It has a small population, however, so that might be it.

Personally i think they did the wrong thing with RES all the way through.

RES means resource extraction site... how people extract resources there i have no idea (except during 1.3 - 1.3.01). I can get some sites in certain systems might be no go areas... but hoping that in high sec systems they are still fairly clear of pirates.

I'd like to see RES belong to miners, with the occasional foolhardy or desparate pirate, not with neverended swarms of them, sometimes outnumbering the number of pirates. If i dare mention "reality" here, no miner would ever actually go to these sites, no matter how nice the resources in them were... unless they were mad, desparate, or armed to the teeth... and from my stint at mining, I spent 99% of my time fighting of pirates instead of actually mining. I got like 3t in an hour, because every time i went back to blasting a rock, another pirate tried to take a bite of me.

Anyway, if they are to be good for bounty hunting, then so be it... can always mine outside of RES anyway. From what i've heard so far, RES do not give particuarlaly better chance of good resources anyway, and even if they did, they are not a good place to zen out and mine in peace.

Maybe the combat mining laser powerplay module will be a good choice though for those who want to try mining in RES.

Population does seem to matter, but so far it's only anecdotal.

This is like an alternate universe thread.. Bounty Hunting in RES have been nerfed. QED

There was a patch, I am facilitating a place for it to be discussed, to see if people have been placated.

They are supposed to give a better chance. It still does mostly depend on the quality of the ring though.

I thought that's why they are marked on the navigation system, so miners know to avoid them. :D Also, can't you pretty much mine anywhere in the rings though by manually dropping in?

You sure can. I'm sure whatever bonus they applied won't work there though.

I've noticed Deadly rated wanted mobs appear now, but not a population change. I'll check tonight and I'll update if I see something.

In Gandii I encountered various Elite and Deadly rated Vipers. Nothing big. One of the Vipers gave me 74k though. :) They averaged around 40k.

This whole idea of a special place to mine in a ring full of asteroids made out of resources is hilariously absurd...
RES shouldn't exist, they are a sad excuse for an actual system that would take too much effort to implement i guess.
In "reality" a miner wouldn't go to any RES, RES wouldn't exist. He'd just scan the whole ring for huge resoure concentrations, then fly anywhere in this XXXXX thousand km³ ring and mine there.
He would give out a signal while he is in there (unidentified/strong/weak signal source), and that would eventually attract pirates, and also bounty hunters and system suicide.. i mean "security" forces.
I had hopes it'd be like that when i first started this game, but oh well... "instances" a great way to seperate a universe with 300 billion stars into little boxes with max 32 players...

aaanyway, back to topic: all i can say about RES is that i'd like to know if you any of you can confirm that hunting in a RES for millions an hour works again. Thanks in advance.
I'd love to check for myself, but i am quite busy this week^^

In an anarchy system tonight :

High int - Asps, clippers, dropships, couriers, diamondbacks

Low int - sideys, eagles, pythons, adders

No authority ships.

My experience :

First high RES : Clippers, Pythons, nothing during few minutes, Police (5 Eagles), nothing, then Clippers, Pythons. All harmless, so pretty low bounties. ~500K for 45min.
Then a low RES : Adders, Vipers, Police (more than in the high)... nothing big except of a policeman in an Anaconda.
Finally back to the first high RES : Adders, wings of Adders...

To me we still have to reset the session until having a decent RES. And pray. What a fix !

I don't think the idea is that resource concentrations are particularly high there. I think the idea is that it's a rendezvous beacon where miners can be assured of a police presence, and of the assistance of nearby fellow miners if they run into mechanical difficulties or bump hulls with an asteroid.

The fact that it also attracts pirates like flies is an unfortunate side-effect.
