RES - PowerPants is Pants, at least give me something to fight

I'm flying a well equipped Python. When I go to a RES, why isn't there anything to challenge me? Why am I served up competent Sidewinders? Think about it - why should it ever happen? Would a pirate in a Sidewinder take me on? Why not give me a fright FD? If you're worried about the mining profession, that's no issue - your software could work out who is mining.

I've relocated, and just got all my kit and joysticks set up to play Elite for the first time in weeks - and it is pants. There is no point. I give up.

p.s. And please drop this PowerPants disaster - it's clear from the forums that not even FD understands it. If you can't give me anything to do, AT LEAST GIVE ME SOMETHING TO FIGHT.

p.p.s. Thank you. Caps dropped.

p.p.p.s. In the OLD Elite, there were systems you could go to that you *knew* were dangerous. Could there be somewhere dangerous for me to go please? I am not DHL, or some PP bean counter.

RES = Resource Extraction Site.

Buy yourself a Frame Shift Interdicter and go nuts ;) There is so much more to this game that RES if you want to bounty hunt. Nav points are still pretty good as are other locations including hunting in super cruise.

RES should have never been for credit farming.

CZs are so contrived. Who are all these people in one tiny area of space buzzing around? I'll try some interdiction - last time I tried this the hull damage cost me a fortune - is this fixed?

Pretty much all ''zones'' are contrived:

RES - Why spread out across the vastness of space when you can mine in a single spot where all the pirates gather? Do note however that the rocks that are right here magically have a higher metal content than all the other ones, despite being in a even planetary ring, where any irregularity would get very rapidly smoothed.

NAV - Ships drop out of Sc/Hyper, then they all fly away for a bit so that they become much easier prey for pirates, then they jump away again? Of course, there's no garrison of defensive emplacements here or even a permament patrol, not even in the most densely populated and lawful systems.

CZ - It is the 34th century. War has evolved and is more gruesome than ever. Any conflict is solved by choosing a few arbitrary places in space, and slowly sending in small waves of reinforcements, instead of actually having skirmishes that start and die and/or battles that actually have objectives and mission targets.

Seeking items - There is a significant need for a certain good here. Like with pretty much any good in the ED universe, we can easily find this good in just a few minutes and our map has all the information necessary to find these places. However, we're really lazy and will instead offer you to sell them to us for several times the market price. Of course, we do not have any protection from piracy, and we're just sitting here in empty space advertising our position to everyone.

Mission Scripted NPC's - Ooooh! That Anaconda just took a mission to deliver 4 tonnes of Grain! I'm going to take my shieldless Eagle and pirate him! I'm going to be rich!
Even more fun when you take several delivery missions to one location, and upon arrival in the target system, you immediatly get barraged by multiple NPC's, some wanting to interdict me and a few other that want me to exit at their low wakes to get ''information''.

everything about zones in this game. it's all because solo and instancing - you can't make one big place with 100 000 ships, because 20 players will blow up servers! And solo players will cry. Xbox players too....

Everything about the game. Take away the first class graphics and sound and you're left with a game that could have been made 30 years ago.

Oh, wait.
