RES Sites and Us Continued

thats completely wrong, It takes longer to kill an elite viper than an elite anaconda, ones worth 50k the others worth 300k (obviously no anacondas atm), what you've got there is somebody whose either geared, or physically better at killing small ships, or considerably worse at killing large ships.

You've also only got one data source, I've already got a vid on the forums getting 5mil/hr in the 1.2 RES without a KWS, adding the KWS + the powers bonus it'd have been 8-9mil/hr and thats without the highest ranks :/

Trust me, large ships >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> small ships unless you are really unlucky and get a massive string of vultures.

If the player has a small ship he'll be better against small targets (turn rate) and weaker against larger ones (can't tank damage) he'll also be able to close on targets much faster than (most) large ships.

I'd have to say I hunt in any RES never bothering to try and maximize spawns and the only thing that effects the payout is the time spent hunting, hunting in FSD with an interdictor and as many pirate hunt/pirate assassination missions as you can find seems to be the biggest payout of all for me (and you get a change of scenery, not the same old rocks).

small ships are better at turning, they do vastly less damage however, usually averages out pretty similar kill times (except vulture maybe), the travel time between targets is definitely a good call.

I do have a hard time believing you can get anyway near the $$$ in small ships versus large, primarily as you need to kill about 5-10x as many ships

Your right about damage small ships definitely dont hit as hard, but they hit more often because of tighter hardpoint placement for example the clipper's wing guns are way to far apart (for me) whereas the placement on the DBS is really nice like the upper guns on the FDL.

I think (anecdotal no proof) the bounty now depends more on combat rank than ship size, I've got more dosh for cobra's than dropships recently.

The one big nerf is no anacondas, anacondas were consistently worth the most, dropships clippers and pythons all vary quite alot even at high rank - I have had a cobra worth 50k before, but i've also had an elite cobra worth like 15 so its swings and roundabouts, a majority of high rank large ships are 100-200k.

I also wouldn't really RES in a clipper, shields too weak, directional thrusters are bad and it can't used all fixed without being gimped your really comparing vulture/FDL/Python for a majority of high speed runs.

I killed loads of pythons, clippers and dropships last night and yet the highest bounty I got was from a Vulture @168k.

I havent seen an NPC anaconda in a RES in a while, which makes sence from a massive ship and big mobile rocks perspective. But they are lucrative and fun to kill, we could do with some rare ones if not a steady stream being put back in.

I cannot accept a single 1hr jaunt in each instance as proof of anything.
The experiment has to be repeated multiple times to draw any type of conclusion.

Then put on your labcoat stick a pen-protector in the pocket and grind, grind in a dispassionate manner whilst murmuring "fascinating".

I look forward to hearing of your conclusions when you present them to the Royal Society.

I'm not the one presenting little excursions as fact of gameplay. There's nothing for me to prove.
I've done many one hour sessions of RES. But I won't present any of my experiences as factual evidence that the game functions one way or another, but as opinion instead.

It was a joke.
