rescue missions

Am I the only one who dont bother takeing these anymore... They seem to have change since all these rescued persons have to go to a rescue ship 200+ LY away... in a medium ship with enginered FSD Python I have like 24ly jump max so for me at least these are no longer worth the truble.. its sad all this thargoid content is for thoese who have been here years and no longer for every one els to join and help... Unless you spend days gathering the materiels for enginering and then want to spend days upgrading everything...

For me atleast its pretty sad that I finally want to join this thargoid but cant fight them so i thought ill go for rescue and help that way but thats not even possible...

But I still dont get why you have to transport the rescued persons 200+LY when there is multiple rescue ships closer

Doing them in a beluga while allied with factions some missions are ~40mil which translates to ~100-150mil per roundtrip taking around 40mins.
-that is okay for me. In any case for me it's much more about helping those in need and playing the story while preventing the invation.

IIRC the target megaships have not been the closest one since the start; i think it has to do with faction allegience where you are sent.
(ie independent to independent, empire to empire etc. Someone else may know more)

From what i can tell so far, alert systems are more viable for solo play with little to no engineering although it is no guarantee.
The scythes and glaives can be fairly hard to deal with, even in a dedicated AX ship.

cheers

Pick the right system for them and use the cutter if you can. I'm working out of Nu Guang, pulling 190 people per trip for a mere 81ly journey (3 jumps).
Easy money, easy materials. 😁

Anaconda was my go-to before I switched to the cutter. Needs a small fuel scoop and I fitted a shield and ECM for evading the glaves and scythes. I don't need to bother with the shield with the cutter as it's fast enough to outpace them.

AXMCs equipped in reserve as well just in case I get caught out.

It depends which superpower the source station is aligned to. Most are independent which means they will want to go to the Bertschinger rescue ship, which is more than 200LYs away from some of the maelstroms. At least for a couple of the maelstroms, it's easier to use a long jumper and take advantage of them being near Jackson's Lighthouse.

I tried going to a federation system where they have thargoid alert, and they still whant to go to the Bertschinger, now its just 12 jumps instead of 8... I cant seem to find any that whant to go to other rescue ships...
Even tho there is a rescue ship in a federation system near by but they still whant to go to the independent one.. For me thats a bit wierd

Depends on the allegiance of the actual station. For instance if you go to HIP 2422, Kovalevskaya Landing and Lindsey Depot are aligned to the federation so passengers from there will want to go to "Federal Haven" in Gera (39 LYs) but passengers at all the other stations will want to go to "Rescue Ship Bertschinger" in Haritanis (127 LYs).
