Rescue Operation: "The far mine" [Live][roleplay]

Summary of what happened: Commander Hardy posted on facebook that he was stuck between two systems after using a neutron jump and now was ready to self destruct. I answered that there was a way of rescuing him...

To: commander M. Volgrand, canonn defense initiative. Search and rescue services.

From: Canonn operations control.

Message received:

Explorer stuck in far away system, fsd unable to Jump, rescue request issued. Please confirm.

"Computer, trace a route home, we need the Golden Firefly. And send a message to the canonn institute."

The computer launched a soft bleep, confirming that the instructions had been completed. Volgrand sent his message:

" Canonn Operations Control, this is Volgrand. Message received, rescue request accepted. I'm on my way, send me all details please."

Day one:

Commanders Dean and M. Volgrand joined forces together to try to rescue cmdr Hardy from his cold and dark grave.
After reaching the zone, about 3.5k LY from the bubble, we had to trace a route towards Hardy. That was not an easy task for Volgrand's ASP explorer, with just barely 40LY of jump range, needing to use a bit of Jumponium to do so.
When the three commanders were together the operation started: Mine and more mine on the only asteroid belt available in the sector. However, no materials have been found so far.

The plan now is to get enough materials so cmdr. Hardy can syntetize some basic FSD boost and reach a system with a white dwarf that should overcharge his FSD enough to get out of his isolation.

Real life called us out of space. We will be back tomorrow around 17:00 or 18:00 IGT.

_______________

Day 2:

After searching in all the asteroids that cmdr. Hardy had in range we reached the same conclusion: It was impossible to get the materials he required to syntethize jumponium. We proceeded then to invite him inside one of our ships and send his ship back to the void.

Cmdrs Dean and Volgrand are heading back to the bubble right now, having had an small talk about the need of a group dedicated to rescue commanders from any dire situation they may get in...

Over the pilots exchange the forces start to gather and Commander that tense knowing this could be them some day..

"Commander M. Volgrand has accepted the mission of A S.O.S. and is in transit to rescue the distant CMDR Hard
y trapped in system BLAA EORK KS-B D13-0"

Cmdr's Teweaq Starblade and McNIcholl check their locations, but sadly were too far away to be of any use.

Sardoc Scavengers report they are checking their systems for range as pilots around the galaxy get reports in from their areas...

The "Fuel Rats" have been brought up several times... although this isn't exactly a normal out of fuel issue.

However, it is comforting to pilots everywhere that those selfless "Fuel Rats" are there when needed.

CMDR Hardy sent out a wide range signal picked by repeater that he has discovered the path of a 50% boost could be twice set for jumps to BLAA EORK NJ-F C25-0 and then to BLAA EORK JD-H C24-0 which would get him out of the deep space well of non-scoopable planets.

... "..and pilots, please remember that just because you CAN Neutron jump someplace doesn't mean you HAVE TO if you don't have on-board supplies to get out of a tight area of unfriendly stars. This has been a Public Service Announcement from GalNet."

"Pilots galaxy wide get the wide-range broadcast as CMDR M. Volgrand get's under way. This dead area of fuel poor stars has a log history of pilots being caught in that old bog. Several ships found floating with their dead pilots carrying out of date charts in that waste. But they ARE explorers, and when they signed up for that life it comes with a solemn price tag. Now we can only watch ...and hope."

CMDR M. Volgrand notes he is looking at a 3 hour rescue time... will CMDR Hardy survive?

We will try to send him a tight-beam to tell him to get on his comms up... we have him up

Relays have informed us that CMDR Hardy's microphone has broken down and forces him into text contact only.

As many of you pilots know keeping your equipment repaired is always a key issue in your own survival! Don't get killed just because you can't call for help!!!!

We are reminded that you should always carry a mining laser when you explorer so that you can get parts for syntheses of fuel boosting and repair resupply.

Passing through Snodgrass Station some ports that might be needed during the mission have been picked up.

"Computer, trace a route home, we need the Golden Firefly. And send a message to the canonn institute."

"Yes sir, you can say your message now.

" Canonn Operations Control, this is Volgrand. Message received, rescue request accepted. I'm on my way, send me all details please."

(This will be ablive report of anlibg distance rescue that will start within the hour. Stay tuned!)

Have you been licking those toads again?

Pilots S.A.R. has announced CMDR Dean Smith has joined the pilots able to aid and support in this mission!
Thank you CMDR Dean Smith! Those of us in Deep space honor your support!

Rescue in progress from CMDR M. Volgrand.
CMDR Dean Smith and Tewesq Starblade are are emergency standby.

CMDR M. Volgrand reminds us that once again, rushing to rescue without fuel limpets will be a issue.

CMDR Hardy tight-beamed us that he is still looking at mapping and alternative routes, but he IS shut down and bleeding fuel..

...he will have one well mapped system there...

CMDR Hardy pulled out his comms to clean the leads and has managed to get his voice comms working!
We hear he was on a mission to plot a jump chain out of a neutron star... needless to say... this didn't work.

The various pilots are now chatting intra-ship so they are coordinating target areas.

The ships are closing in, the feelings are tense, pilots are listening around the galaxy, and the air is stale.... hey, someone wanna check the filtration again?!

CMDR Dean Smith and CMDR M. Volgrand are trying to find a way into the pit... both are finding the same issues, finding a path is hard... The stars are very far apart here and they are trying to find the way in.

We know both these renowned pilots are well trained in tracking paths and routes.
