Located at the village of Sant Esteve de les Roures, not far from Barcelona, this zoo is mainly focused on animals living on temperate and dry regions. The zoo is located on a mediterranean forest and takes advantage of the environment to build the animal enclosures, so don't expect a heavly themed zoo (it is closer to something like Montpellier or Sigean).
The entrance of the zoo is based on a "masia", a typical rural house common on the northeast of Spain, and to be more precise, in this case is based on the masia located at the old botanical gardens of Barcelona. Before entering the zoo, there's a small garden:
After the ticket counter we find three possible paths. The "route 1" will take us to the lake and restaurant. The other two routes cover each side of the zoo, both also reaching the lake but with a longer walk.
As the zoo still have some empty zones on each route, I'll not follow an strict route. For now, we will see the 5 enclosures that we currently find on route 2. The first animal the we will find are the red foxes:
