Resolution Changes Unexpectedly

I can't find a thread on this. Since the big ol' 1.1 monster patch, when I play, the resolution of the game suddenly changes. I have it set for 2715x1527 and downsampled to 1920x1080 (native for my monitor). When it unexpectedly changes, downsampling ceases and the game is displayed in such a way that I can't see the entire image - it's cut off because the res is bigger than my monitor's preferred resolution.

Then I have to quit the game with extreme prejudice - I can't see the menu, so I have to use Windows Task Manager to kill it. Not an ideal situation, but I like the lack of jaggies and such that running at 27x15 affords. I'm going to set it to 19x10, and see if anything else weird happens.

Has anyone else experienced this bit of oddness?

Is "down-sampling" an in-game thing?

I have a UHD monitor but nVidia GE configures "optimal" settings for ED to 2560x1440, and it's pretty solid 60 FPS.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I tweaked the in-game settings, and assigned the game Nvidia's default profile through Nvidia Control Panel.

All went smoothly, so I tried to "optimize" the game through Geforce Experience. The spontaneous res switching symptom returned, so I re-tweaked it back to normal as indicated above. I also set Geforce Experience to inform me of new optimization updates without installing them until I say so.

What do you end up setting it to compared to the Nvidia Experience optimization? I bought a new 970 graphics card and used the optimization tool but since the last build I'm having those same issues and some jaggyness. What res and supersampling do you have it at now?

I have the res at 2715x1527 and SMAA at 1.5 (both done manually in-game, not using Geforce Exp).
