Resolution issue on TV in Xbox One version

I have been playing the Xbox One version since last night. It is excellent! I have noticed that, at least on my TV, parts of the menus are not visible. The screen cuts off. I have tried setting my Xbox One to both 720 and 1080. It cuts off on both. I also cycled through the "pixel shape" settings on the TV but this did not help either. I have an older Sanyo HD TV (Model DP37649) and I realize this may not be an issue on newer TVs. However, no other Xbox One games give me this issue. In fact some games, such as Far Cry 4 for example, go so far as to let you adjust your screen specifically for your TV when you start the game for the first time. This is one of the best games I have played in a long, long time. I hope that this is one of the issues you guys can fix before the final release. Thanks for reading!

This might be better listed as a bug than a suggestion. Not sure. But I know that in some of the ships the menus can go past the edges of the screen a bit. The Eagle in particular, as I remember. Just make sure you're actually looking to the different menus. They aren't meant to show up completely in the normal forward view. The XBox videos I've seen so far don't have this issue, so try playing around with your contoller and settings some more and let us know if it's still an issue.

Your TV might be overscanned. There could be a HDMI setting for overscan on/off. The overscan is a hangover from the CRT TV days when you needed to overscan the picture otherwise you would see jaggy edges at the edge of the picture where the electron beam was returning and this was never precise enough to give you a straight edge so the picture was intentionally stretched out past the edge of the tube to look nice. We don't need it any more with LCD panels but it is an option for the HDMI inputs on some TV's. Look for an overscan setting somewhere...

XBox One on 55" Samsung television and I have the same exact issue (today is my first day onboard). I am missing left, right, top and bottom "pieces" of the screen. Very pronounced on the left and right sides, with missing portions of reading and selections (particularly on maps).

I keep looking for the screen size adjustment within the game, and now here in the forums, realize there isn't one and this may be a bug?

I'll check first chance I get thanks. Glad to hear I'm not the only one having the problem. Perhaps if it affects many people it will be addressed.

Okay, the overscan was a good idea but there are no options for this or anything similar in the menus. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Its easy to confirm overscan if you can plug a laptop or PC into the TV via HDMI using 1920x1080 resolution. On a PC monitor the task bar will be perfectly represented to the edge of the screen but on a TV its not uncommon to see this overlap. Just remembered ! Some TV's have a button on the remote and when you cycle it the on screen display will say "full", "zoom", etc. Try this as it might be set to zoom which effectively is overscan.

Yeah, it definitely doesn't fit correctly. I often connect my laptop to the TV and have this issue. Unfortunately, I have never found anything in the menus or on the remote to fix it. My TV just doesn't have a way to turn off this feature. I guess I'm understanding what the issue is now but I hope the problem can be addressed since ED is an Xbox title now and I don't have this issue with any other Xbox games. This is a great game, one of the best I've played, and it still has a good amount of time left in development, so I'm just going to be patient and hold out hope.

OK you got me curious. I downloaded the user manual for your TV : Sanyo HD TV (Model DP37649) and at the top of your remote there is a "Pix Shape" button. Cycling through the different pix modes "Pix1", "Pix2" etc. should have a mode that gets rid of overscan. Have you tried this ? "Pix7" mode should be the one you want I think.

I fixed this already but I just wanted to say, in case others with the same problem read this, the "Pix Shape" button does not fix the issue. It only cycles through "Pix1" through "Pix4". None of these modes fix the overscan problem.

That's great, Whisper. For me, after my 21 June post, about two to three evenings later... suddenly the edges had returned to my 55" Samsung. I thought that Frontier had perhaps done something to the game... because I had done nothing to my Samsung. I still do get an overscan issue on the title/options screen, but within the game itself, everything is correct and I regained my edges.
