Respawn location in deep space?

It appears that when you get popped, you respawn at the nearest station. How does this work in uninhabited space? Do you travel back perhaps hundreds of light years to the nearest station?

For those of us going on expeditions to the unknown, this might become a major roadblock. The further you go, the more punishing dying would become, as you would have to re-do your steps to get where you started.

Not really sure if there is a lore-compliant way to make respawning in deep space possible. And is respawning is explained in the lore, at all?

dying will send you to last visited station, saving will keep the last location you saved :)

it's how it should work ;)

Not sure about how it works in deep space, however as the lore states, when your ship is destroyed, you are ejected in a escape capsule and autopiloted to the nearest station AFAIK.
