Newcomer / Intro Respawn rate for core asteroids?

Can someone confirm the respawn rate for core asteroids. 6 seems to be the magic number, but I have heard 6 hours, 6 days and 6 weeks quoted. Be interested to know what it is.

To be honest, I don't know to which extent the devs fulfilled the plans.
Originally the cores weren't supposed to respawn at all. In the end, they do respawn after a couple of days but they were supposed to offer diminishing resources as they were respawning over and over (to create "gold rushes" but not lasting money exploits).
In the end, I don't think even that is true.
