Restaurants

I noticed that in the dev diary there were food and drink stalls, similar to that of RCT3. I think it would be a great addition for there to also be proper dining areas such as restaurants with seating, as this is what you do find in theme parks.

As a parent who has "enjoyed" Disneyland Paris on a couple of occasions I heartily agree! You need somewhere to sit down and grab a rest and some food if only for 30 minutes. Proper dining areas would be a good addition.

Agreed. I would like to see proper "food courts" with different theming options and of course restaurants. :D

+1 this for sure, we would love to see larger food stands, and restaurants for family's and friends to sit down and enjoy a meal maybe even have a food fight that the janitors have to clean up?

Food courts is a great idea. I actually work at a theme park and the food court is used for people who have picnics, but also extra outdoor seating for the restaurant. It would be a great addition in the game.

As a parent myself and know the joy of getting to sit down for a bit.. I totally agree with the thought of seated eating areas.

I was in Disneyland Paris a few weeks ago, and I confess, it feels good to eat by being seated (in one of the many restaurants and fastfood)

In this regard, it's a little big strange to find this kind of food stalls in theme parks building game from 2015, because theme parks have restaurants too now. These stands still exist (and fortunately, because it is usefull for "fast food") but they are a minority in the most famous parks.

The only time I tend to see the small stands are like, dippin dots, soda/drinks, cotton candy, baseball bats with your name on it, and other nic nacks. All all the food places for the most part are a good sit down place. Although there is some food stalls like funnel cakes and others that are just something quick you grab it and walk and eat.

So back in the day, when Frontier was still active with RCT3 and we noted the problem of dining in that game, hoping that a future expansion would take care of it, there was a lot of discussion about Restaurants. Something we think Atari noticed and agreed with since last years announcements about their new effort has said there would be Restaurants.

There were numerous threads about how people would take several stalls, custom scenery around them to make it look like they were under one roof, in one open building with benches placed together, and then custom scenery of picnic tables, and then tables (some pieces not interactive with a peep because of the programming) to make a restaurant.

Thus this would be great to have in PC

Here however you should note that there are sit down restuarants, and fast food like restaurants where much as a stall, you get your food at the window, and then eat in the dining room. Extra staff, wait staff for full restaurants, busboys for both, and perhaps a chef to hire and effect the quality of the food and the type of food could be placed in the management system. (Chefs by skill, for there are now 5 star restaurants, 2 star michelin restaurants in theme parks) and of course some might know French cuisine, some might be sushi chefs, some good at TexMex...

If you dine at a stall with a dining area, your peep would spend a fraction more time than when just at a walk up stall. But in a sit down service, a lot more time, and white table service, with that top chef, a whole lot more time. As well as perhaps have access to the wine cellar with a selection of 2 buck chuck to a First Growth Bordeaux.

My daughter who also loves to play RTC games & has played all 3 RTC games has had a few ideas/suggestions relating to restaurants for any upcoming Rollercoaster game.

Her suggests are:
I suggest that if there are restaurants, there should be a star system for the restaurants that rate them. These rates can be part of the objectives or can help with other objectives eg, higher star restaurant means a higher income and could fulfil say an objective of $600.00 monthly restaurant income or have two 3 star restaurants. Also coming with this, you could have rat or cockroach infestations that go throughout the park and rides and attractions have to close because of it. To improve the restaurants, you could put in scenery around the restaurant and somehow have a system that allows you to choose what quality is the type of food, the quality of staff, the quality of furniture etc. This could be in the form of how in RCT3 you could change the amount of toppings on food and drinks. But to get higher quality whatever, it would cost more therefore to achieve a 5 star restaurant, you need a fair amount of money.

Expanding on the objective idea, you could have celebrities come and visit the park specifically for the restaurant. Eg, Joe Slugger ball (whatever his name is) could visit an Americana (generic) Park and want to visit a sports themed restaurant that sells chilli dogs and curly fries, food that you'd buy at a sports game. Or Kara Oki could visit a 4 star sushi restaurant. With the food, you could have suited food for the time of day, so waffles for breakfast, chilli dog for lunch and Turkey leg for dinner in a generic Park. Also, with the quality of staff, you could train them like janitors and mechanics.
Thank you. - Brooke, 16.

What do people think?

I dont know about others country but here, in France, we dont have those "food stalls" in theme parks like "Disneyland Resort Paris", "Parc Asterix" or "Futuroscope". Every restaurants in the park (even if it's a pizza or burger fast food) are sit down restaurants.

The only "food stalls" we have are for cotton candy, crèpes (i dont know the english name, sorry), sweets bag, drinks, and sometimes french fries, or things like this, but it's not where we take lunch.

But maybe it's differents in others country, i dont know this.

I would love the option to place small restaurants and maybe choose between themes. I would also love the option to expand/upgrade the restaurant when you have enough money saved. Maybe even downgrade it when you want to promote more expensive rides on the other side of the park with a better restaurant. Oh and I would love picnic benches to create your own outside dining area! I only saw the normal benches and a round bench with a tree in the middle in the trailers :)

I really like the idea of being able to upgrade a structure that may already be placed, maybe having some rules where you have to make sure you have enough room if not you may need to make some in order for the building to upgrade.

crèpes (i dont know the english name, sorry)

That's how it is in English. :)

I'd love to see picnic areas that can be shared with multiple restaurants/eating places. Like a regular food court, don't make one set of benches linked to just one set of restaurants unless it is dining in.

+1 on this. Honestly I never really liked the burger/donut/etc stalls as they never fit in any realistic park I was trying to make. It doesn't seem like this would be too hard to create; there are countless examples of them in every theme park.

I want to build restaurants piece by piece. No pre-built structures please!

Well hang on, why can't we have both? The Wild expansion in RCT3 introduced Custom stalls, a great tool that allowed me to put down a blank stall that was basically a desk and build a custom shop front around it. However, the original stalls were still there for people who liked them. I'd be happy for that sort of system, where we have prebuilt restaurants but also custom restaurants, which just give us the basic layout to build around.
