Newcomer / Intro Resuming My Career After a Year Off Need Guidance for Reinstall

Greetings Commanders... I'm getting ready to reinstall Horizons and resume my career from when circumstances required me to set it aside. I read the very informative post stuck on the top of the forum regarding making a good backup of key bindings. I looked in my App/Local/Options folder and sure enough everything is there dated from my last sessions. I don't have a copy of ED reinstalled, yet.

Is there a guide or does someone have bookmarks of posts that cover bringing my Commander back to life with a full reinstall. I decided to continue to play Horizons, as I only played for a year or so, have good ships and loot, and I'm sure I will enjoy playing it for quite some time before deciding to do Odyssey.

I have a TM Warthog HOTAS and Throttle, Crosswind pedals and two Cougar button boxes I have spent hours configuring and am hoping I don't have to repeat those efforts. Would be nice to ensure my ships and credits come back to life again as they were. I realize I need to relearn A LOT, but am willing to do so. I truly enjoyed earning and building my tricked out Phantom and am looking forward to getting going again.

Any guidance would be most appreciated. I'm in no hurry. I'm going to make a backup of my entire options folder before starting the fresh install. I really don't know what files I can place on top of whatever the new install does, so I will just go slow and take whatever advise and direction I can find.

Thank you Cheers,

Parsec Pilgrim

THANK YOU for such a quick respoonse. So I copied my Options folder to a safe place (just in case), installed the installer and downloaded Horizons. Upon launch it appears I'm in full screen with the center of the display area centered in my monitor and much of it splashing over to my second monitor. My mouse will not leave the immediate display area to allow me to navigate menus. I did bring up graphics menu, I'm running a 2080TI 13GB card so I have it set to high, I can select windowed mode and make other changes, however, I cannot get my cursor to where I need to save the changes so I run in windowed mode next startup. Any helpful suggestions?
Thanks!

Interesting problem. I'm guessing that the game is confused by your second monitor, but that's just a guess. I think you'll have to contact support on this one, they'll probably know what to do.

Yes - RTFM (top right in the launcher, right below your name) :)

As long as you're inside ED, you don't use the mouse to navigate menus. Mouse (if you're flying kb+m) is for ship control/headlook. Menus are WASD (plus QER) for navigation, space bar for select.

I turned off my second monitor forcing program to load on larger primary. Still had the issue. Turns out I had set my scaling to 125% at some point in the last year as I'm blind in one eye and the other suffers from early stage glacoma and old age. :)

Anyway, I'm sitting out in the California Nebula with an obsence bank account and a tricked out Krait Phantom at Mic Turner Base. Thinking about heading back in to civilization and cogitate over my options once I get there. 23 jumps. Need to do a bit of brushing up, go through all my binding for my TM Warthog setup before launching. 3.5M buybacks, so I should probably learn to fly again before launching.

If I were to just self destruct, eat the buyback cost, where would I be located once I get a new ship. Same location I'm in now. ?

It would depend on the option you took on the rebuy screen, if you bought back whatever you self destructed you would be back at the nearest/last base docked at, if you selected the free Sidewinder you would be back in one of the starter systems in the bubble in that free Sidewinder having lost whatever you Self Destructed not usually a good swap unless you bought a cheap ship to do that in.
