Newcomer / Intro Retargeting your next jump

Although I'm not exactly new, this might be a noob question so I'm asking in this section.

I'm on my way back from Sag A and I'm using the auto route to plot 1,000 ly at a time, but if I target anything to scan in the system I find myself in I have to open the galaxy viewer and reselect my destination star again before I can jump again (even though the traveling line is still plotted).
Is there a way I can automatically go back to my pre planned route once I've finished exploring a system?

Not sure if this is quite what you're looking for but the next target in your jump list should still be marked (with the little squiggly line icon) in your Navigation list. Select that in the same way that you'd choose a planet in your current system, jump to it and after that you should be back on your pre-plotted route, with no need to re-select your destination.

Hope that made sense.

If you scroll down the list of objects in the navigation panel, you will notice that after the system objects come the other systems withing jump range. You will also see what looks like a planetary icon next to one of the systems. This is your preplanned route. Click on this and select lock destination. Voila, you're back on route.

R is a good choice as it is silent running on some default mappings. More people have been killed by silent running than have used it on purpose
