retire the downvote steam button

Hello peeps,
I'm sure many have notices but systematic downvoting has gotten a bit worst lately on planco Steam workshop... some friends were talking about it.... and they were not kidding. Anyone that gets on the first page will get downvotes. I don't really care personnally (I've had a very loyal downvoter for a year now... ), but I know that some less carefree players will get discourage by that... even stop themselves from posting...

all and all, that voting system gives a bad vibe to the community... mainly because it's not ingame, voters don't download, downloaders don't vote... and the workshop is not for real mods, no chance in hell to screw your game. There's no real use for the downvote except that pathetic tradition to downvote first pagers...

Is there a way for Frontier to deactivate that feature on Steam ?

Not sure. If it's a Steam function, I don't think Frontier has any saying in it. Of course I wouldn't know how that works with Steam.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Valve will purely have control over that feature. Shame really because I do agree that downvoting may affect the community reputation in some way. Whether a workshop item is big or small, it doesn't deserve the hate!

It also annoys me somewhat because I can't help but to think of a bunch of low-lifers constantly downvoting workshop uploads because apparently they find it hilarious.

Maybe people should just stop relying on other people's opinion about something, and make their own.

I've seen plenty of good workshop items, which where reviewed negatively. Most negative reviews come from jealousy.

Yep! Negative feedback in online communities is rarely used appropriately and is often misused to the point of harassment.

But this is 100% a Valve problem, and expecting the anarcho-fiefdoms of Valve to figure this out is well...hehe. cute.

People truly love just tearing others down. You watch it all the time.
