Retreat, Evacuate! Load up economy passenger cabins!

I can already see the headlines: "Refugee megaship fails to appear at the jump-in point. Thargoid hyperdiction suspected. Fear and sorrow in the face of millions lost."

Rep to the Op for such a great idea. Problem is a lot of the players I know think the Thargoid implementation was initially cool, but got boring real fast due to the specialist weapons fiasco.
So here's my 2 cents. Have the evacuation CG, and at the same time a new engineer CG. The new engineer develops a mod for all current weapon types, so that the standard weapons can kill Thargoids, or at least disable them.

If you look at the current anti goid weapons they are all class 2 medium hardpoint . Now work out the ships with enough hull and shields to use, with enough hardpoints to to carry the weapons.
Now look at a top tier ship like the Corvette. 2 small hardpoints (useless) one large so a class 2 weapon can go there, 2 medium ideal, 2 huge one of which would need to carry a class 2 anti goid weapon.

I'm not saying make Thargoids kills easy, but at least make it possible with standard weapons using a quality ship fit for purpose. Wings of big three supported by FGS FDL wingmen, escorting evac ships, now that to me is lore friendly game play.

Yes, it would certainly be awesome to be flying among all those menacing looking USSs while getting shot at by other humans as you tried to evacuate refugees. [where is it]

But, yeah.
It could be pretty epic... IF they let the thargoids out of their playpens.
Have thargoids appearing a couple of hundred km out from a station and heading toward some of those NPC Belugas and also attacking player ships too.
Set up a pair of CGs - a thargoid hunting one and a passenger evacuation one.

That would, hopefully, create a situation where people could do a CG in Open cooperatively.
Or am I being too optimistic?

I say yes. I like the idea, but the reality is that at least one person will still decide to be a and blow up players because they can. It only takes one to ruin it.

What if the the thargoids have a tendency to choose those pilots :)

Like the trolling red scorpion (op attacks, insanely fast, and nigh on invincible and re spawned a lot) In one of the serious Sam games was a pirated copy.

Trolls will be Goid'ed (if only)

"Please put on these slave manacles and off to the cargo hold you go?" ;)
Can you imagine that, hundreds of passengers and then you get an in-flight message.
"Hey, my employer needs Slave workers I'll take your haul for twice the asking price of a regular slave."
So you could re-route the refugees to some slave barge for mo-money,
Or deliver to the CG and make a contribution.

I've tried fighting the thargoids and spent a few million in rebuys without even killing one.

Pilots are bleeding their accounts trying to make a stand in the latest CG.
We had to perform search and rescue previously

Are We going to have a CG to start evacuating people and personnel from the stations.
?

Get them to a mega ship?
To a fleet rendezvous?

Defend the fleet?

I love the idea but why can I envision in the midst of evacuating hundreds / thousands of people, rescuing them from certain doom, I would get a message on my comms that goes like this:

"Excuse me Cmdr, Would you mind stopping at the closest star port and source me 1 ton of beer so we may enjoy this trip in style".

An evacuation mission would be cool, invoking 1984.
We should be able to save people from a few bugs when we can save them from suns going supernova.

"I REFUSE TO BE RESCUED WITHOUT A WASHING MACHINE!"
