Retribution Lasers

**Retributor**

Worth it? Are they any good?

From what I can see they were good when there was the OP heat meta but haven't heard anything since then. Are they better than a normal C1 beam?

Thanks!

A normal class 1 beam with thermal shock is massively better than a retributor. Only advantage the retributor ever has is being able to put thermal shock on top of it for twice the effect.

I'll see if I can find the video.
There's a pre fix video of CMDR Vectron and CMDR Steven of the Alliance Office of Statistics with an Anaconda fully rigged with Retribution Lazers unable to take down a shieldless Sidewinder.

Ahh how we laughed.

For like a year.

And then Frontier in their wisdom DID fix the Retribution Lazer.
And thought "hey that's kinda cool let's make it available to all players".
And thus, the heat meta was born.
And then nerfed.

But as has been pointed out many times - the real use of the Retribution Lazer is to heat cannisters of wheat to make Freedom Bread and of course Fruitcake.

Mahon Cooking Lasers are excellent for reheating cups of tea that you have let go cold. You can also cook chicken with them, if you can keep them firing for eight minuets, for only 250,000 times the power cost of a fan assisted oven

They also used to look nice with their red colour, but you can now just buy that, and have it on actual weapons as well.

The Mahon Cooking Laser is the ideal choice for clown cars everywhere.

I really hope FDev will do a balance/polish pass on the PP weapons to make more of them useful and have unique models for them so at least they look different.

One of the problems is it is a chicken and egg scenario. Sandy says they will look at PP in general if people play it. But few people play it as it's, to be frank, not very good. But I can see FDEV saying they won;t spend the time and money on it if they can't guarantee it will get played a lot more... but then that ensures it won't.

Of course, people do play PP to get the weapons and other goodies (except the Mahon Cooking Laser of course), so there might be hope, but I would not hold your breath.
