Retro Rockets from Amiga Version of Elite

I remember there were retro rockets that gave you a short high powered reverse thrust.

Having something like this would give a whole new dimension to dogfights.

This module could either be an internal very slow to recharge unit or a modded thruster where max mass is reduced for the ability to have the retro.

I think they would be somewhat superfluous, since you can achieve basically the same toggling flight assist, turning by 180° and then boosting. Or simply pull your throttle back to maximum reverse speed. The effect is very similar.

Not really. Imagine an enemy being behind you and then you hit a retro rocket. Cutting speed to nothing or pushing you into reverse almost instantly. This is entirely different from slowing down, you FA OFF, or reversing.
