Retrofitting - putting the new in the old
Here's what I think they mean. Modifying ships.
For example the Millennium Falcon looked like a piece of junk but was fitted with cutting edge engines and thrusters, smugglers ships as described in the dda were similar. Often junk to look at but state of the art on the inside. Other examples from pop culture would be knight Rider so car, street hawks bike or one of James bonds many spy gadgets.
To outfit (a device, vehicle, building, or system) with newly developed or previously unavailable parts or equipment: retrofit cars with new safety features.
Alien Technology? Stuff from that new imperial high tech station? Hidden compartments for smuggling. Putting modules in cargo space? Additional fuel tanks? Overcharged weapons?
2. To install or fit (a device or system, for example) for use in or on an existing structure, especially an older dwelling.
n.
Making use of those landing bays in out posts? Small ship stations?
Any ideas?
