So, after crashing my Asp into a station (my first ship destruction ever) while smuggling (despite the fact that the weapons were wanted by a community event, they're still illegal there), I had a realization. The only thing I needed to slow down was something that I think the larger ships (including the Asp) do have, but don't make quite enough use of. When slowing down quite a bit, I see what appear to be retrograde thrusters firing- these are thrusters that are larger than RCS thrusters, but still smaller than the main engines, designed to allow for a quick slowdown.
What I'm suggesting here is, allow us to run a boost through those as well. When I really just need that extra 'slow the hell down' power, I should have it available. Unless it already is and I just haven't tried it yet.
Also, another thing, forward and back translation thrusters. Basically, RCS thrusters used to make very precise adjustments in those two directions. Kind of like the existing up and down, and strafe thrusters, but for forward and back. Technically not related to what happened to me, but it could be useful for cargo scooping to have the ability to make small adjustments. Or, alternatively, add a toggleable mode in which all key presses result in less response- basically, a precision mode, used for making tiny adjustments to throttle. Of course, being a keyboard and mouse user, I probably wouldn't know the joys of a real throttle and a joystick for this sort of thing. I swear it's on my list of things to buy.
