Newcomer / Intro Returned after long break

Hello Pilots!
I just want to say thanks for all the tips and help in the Discord channel. I have completely forgotten how to do anything in this game.

However I just love it and cant wait to be competent.. one day.

I am thinking of Mining as my primary source of income. Would this be viable and a good Credit Per Hour trade??

I only have a Sidewinder at the moment and am thinking of getting an Adder.

Fly Crazy! and Thanks in advance. O7

Find a HIGH RES (Resource Extraction Site) and shoot at targets which are already under attack by the police (<30% hull left before you fire) and then you will get the bounty for it whether you kill it or not. Do this several times and get more credits and then fit a cobra for travel and do the R2R (road to ritches-google it) to get even more credits. Then buy a Type6 and go mining at the new triple LTD Hotspots. Upgrade to a Python for 198T and repeat mining. All in all you should be worth billions quite quickly doing this.

Good advice that. One of the reasons it's good advice is that the tools that make mining bearable (never mind efficient and profitable) just won't fit into a tiny ship that has such a small amount of cargo space. Work your way up just a little bit and then it becomes a good way to make credits.

Before I even considered doing any mining, I remember getting out of my Sidey and into a Cobra Mk III. I loved that little ship and had a lot of fun. Inevitably I wondered why I waited so long to do that. It's a good ship to do some RES credit-grabbing tactics as @Hawknerd describes above, to do some R2R, to do some courier missions, learn how to evade interdictions, polish flight and maneuvers to make yourself more competent, and so much more. Clearly the Cobra Mk III isn't the only path to progress thru ships and learn like this.

I remember taking that little ship to a CG high-intensity combat zone and pestering the heck out of the faction who was the 'bad guy' of the day. One could argue that I had no business being in that CZ with my little beam laser and my little multicannon and my un-engineered ship. Was it tough being so outmatched? You bet!
...but it sure was a lot of fun.

Have fun with the progression! There's nothing like having little to lose.

Having become worth billions you will realise that you really need to unlock engineers to engineer ships and you need materials for this which you cannot buy with all your credits!! So you start the materials grind and build your fleet. The money is useful but materials have to be collected or earned and not bought. But the money is useful......
