Returning CMDR Non-Human Signal question

I'm out in the black about 10kly from Sol and come across 9 non human signal sources in an undiscovered system. I landed and found them laying on the surface of several ice moons of a Ammonia Gas Giant along with some sensor mats. So far the probes themselves I've left. I guess my question is do any Thargoid war stuff still have meaning in the game? Materials? Intel?
Or did the Coijo situation end it all?

Sorry for the TLDR, but been gone several years with health issues and am just now returning. Thanks.

Yes Thargoid Sensors and sensor fragments are useful in game.

You can shoot Thargoid sensors with your SRV weapons (or ship weapons if you have them) to break them up into Sensor Fragments, which are materials and do not take any cargo space, plus they are not corrosive like the Thargoid sensor is.

Plus, Sensor Fragments are a rarity grade 5 material, so if/when a Thargoid Materials Trader sets up shop somewhere, Sensor Fragments will probably be good mats for trading (though there is a quicker way to get multiples of them than chasing down individual sensors)
