Returning home after 7 years of inactivity.

Greetings Commanders.

My name is CMDR LordJago. I stopped playing this account back in 2018 i believe and put the account into a deep cryosleep.

Back then i was heavy into Exploration and i took it upon myself to head out to the "Delta Quadrant" (im a big Star Trek fan) as i called it at the time.

The mechanics of the game was much different in 2018.
I purchased and engineered an Anaconda for exploration, with the original style of engineering.
Being very proud of my ship with its 59ly max jump range and headed out of so long ago.
Old style system scanning and route plotting.

Now i have returned to this account, having to learn or relearn the game and its mechanics.

First of which is wear and tear of the FSD drive. At the time there was no such thing as a AFMU system in the game. or at least i cant remember of one.
And now that im around 30,000 ly from home with an FSD drive at 65%. Im not sure i will make it back.

I have plotted a course back to what i think is the closed Human colony from my current destination.
But i may need help.

So i am reaching out to other commanders for tips, advise and suggestion on how i can get home.

Welcome back! I'm sure more experienced explorers will soon drop in but in the meantime:

The Deep Space Support Array (DSSA) | A FleetComm Initiative

There may be a DSSA Fleet Carrier near you, please check the thread out and post if you need help or confirmation.

There are also the Hull Seals and the Fuel Rats, I don't have their contacts on hand but I'm pretty sure someone else will supply them 🙂

Welcome back, CMDR!

As others have already posted, we now have player-owned fleet carriers thast function as mobile stations. You can repair your FSD there. The system you are currently in is not (yet) in the databases, but if I'm not mistaken, the nearest system to your position already catalogued is Greou Phio PM-M d7-0.

We also have a lot of really helpful 3rd party apps and websites to help you navigate. So, looking for stations (and thus, carriers) near Greou Phio PM-M d7-0 in EDSM gives us:

Caveat: players can jump their carriers around, so it's not a given that a randomly selected carrier stays put while you're approaching it. The DSSA carriers, however, are stationary by choice. Unfortunately, EDSM only shows us the registry number of the carrier, not the name (which would include "DSSA").

Sooooo, copypasting the registry numbers of the nearest carriers into Inara reveals that the nearest DSSA carrier to your location seems to be the Kitty Corner (X3M-7HY) in system Droett XD-T d3-22. According to Inara, that carrier also features an outfitting service. So, if you're very lucky, they have an AFMU for you there. If not, you should also be able to travel back to the Bubble in one piece with a repaired FSD. Also, there should be at least another DSSA carrier on your way.

[edit: corrected the carrier URL]

Thanks for that. And to all that have replied so far.

Yeap im heading to Kitty Corner now. Had to do a 222ly jump which ive not done in a LONG time. so that was a little butt squeaky. Dropped my FSD to 64% but worth it.
Im about 48 jumps out. But i am scanning systems along the way. Becaues ya never know them Earth Like planets.
Which i happened to go a rescanned one i book marked 7 years ago but didnt detail scan.

So thanks again. Just hope the crew on the carrier are friendly foke and not pirates.

There is no wear and tear of the FSD drive, unless you use neutron star supercharging (which degrades the health of the FSD by about 1%).

If you plot a normal route to civilization, without using neutron star jumps, you'll be fine. Sure, at 65% FSD health you'll get a ton of warnings about the FSD malfunctioning, but those are not very dangerous and it won't stop you from jumping (if you get the error, just try again, eventually it will succeed).

Thought it might have some wear n tear after like every few thousand light years or so.
but yeah i noticed after a neutron star jump i lost 1%

but thanks for the info. im not too far from the carrier now

Thx Commanders. Made it to Kitty Corner to get repairs.
Paint was 0%, and some how Ship integrity was at 0% also. That must have been a bug.
Cost 1.2 million to fix though.

But at least now im fully repaired for the long run back to civilised space.

They are both normal, paint wears depending on distance traveled in SC (not hyperspace jumps) and ship integrity wears due to neutron star boosting, however the integrity being at zero just means total integrity is at 50%, it never drops lower, it's not something to worry about unless you are into combat.

Oh yes, welcome back, it's an entire new game these says, first thing you need to do once you get to a proper Starport is trade out your old FSD for brand new shiny SCO FSD, you will not believe the difference in supercruise travel lol!
