returning home from Sag A*

Hi all,

I am around 6,000 Ly out from returning on my first trip to Sag A* and have been reading a lot about people needing escorts. I am in an asp with d rated shields. Is there an increased chance of interdiction or something?

Sorry am pretty new to the game in general and this was my first expedition. Its taken me almost a month and I think I will be sick if I lose all my data. Are there any safe systems people recommend coming to when coming back to the bubble?

If you are participating in powerplay, then there might be the usual NPC-interdiction. Besides from that, even if your cargo is empty, there is the odd chance of being interdicted by NPC's, especially in anarchy systems.

If you play in open you also have the added chance of running into the wrong type of CMDR. Bear in mind that going to sell your data in open at places where there are a lot of player traffic (ie. community goals, Powerplay hubs), you have an increased risk of being interdicted by said CMDR's.

My best advice to you is to go to the first system you can reach, which have an outfitter (large stations usually with industry or High-tech economy) and repair/re-equip your ship. Then you can go to the place you desire to sell your data.

IF you get interdicted, submit right away, target another system to jump to and jump as soon as possible while having 4 pips to shields.

If you can boost with your ship you should be OK. Any cargo should be dumped to minimize the chance of "bighaullikethatblabla" interdiction stuff. Choose a system with high security level and return in solo play mode to avoid the occassional retards. If you get interdicted, submit, boost the hell out and jump into another system.

Thanks guys. appreciate the advice. Just a quick question. why is it better to submit to interdiction? Like I say fairly new and usually try to escape it with around a 50/50 success rate.

If you submit your FSD cool down period is shorter, allowing you a faster getaway.. :)

Ah. Fantastic advice. Will def be doing this then. Hope to get back this evening at some point and dust myself off before getting back to some missions.

Thanks!

have a look here: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=164893 - listing systems at the edge of the bubble, some with outfitting at outposts close to entry point -> minimal chance of interdictions. you can also look over at the group subforum - many explorer friendly groups will be happy to escort you in, if you sell some exploration data which is a heavy hitter in influencing the backgroundsimulation. but i personally think, this isn't necessary in an Asp with D-class shields, if you pick a good system to land at.

tip for your next trip: choose that system before leaving, move a well outfitted ship there (i have a cobra mk III in my safe harbour, where i store my exploration vessels), and get allied with all factions in that systems. npc pirates don't attack allied ships.

If you're still 6000k out, take a little detour and visit Eta Carinae system, and the Carinae nebula too. Also on the way there is a massive star 700 solar radii named X Carinae.
