Horizons Returning Player - Help Please

Hi all,

I have not played ED in over 12 months due to a serious illness which is thankfully under control now. Before I left I was making my credits via rare runs which is not viable now. I have seen a lot of youtube videos of others doing different things but seems they are hit with the nerf bat.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what I should be concentraing on please. I have Horizons so can do most things, albeit will have to learn all over again.

hey, welcome back. there are quite a lot of options now:

- state depending trading. food to markets in famine, medicines to markets in outbreak etc.. filter galaxy map for states and find a good source.

- sightseing passenger missions. best from boom/tourism economies

- skimmer destruction missions, planetary scan data missions

- rare trading can be still quite profitable, if you trade rares from and to markets in boom

- generally trade missions from/to markets in boom

Welcome back.
There is a patch incoming, also including changes to missions and the like. Perhaps it's best to wait for it and then ask and look around.
Depending on the ship you are in now, you can also level up rank for a faction and do boom missions/passenger transport. Some sightseeing passenger missions get you 5 to 10 millions, while carrying 5 passengers or so. But well, we'll see if that is still a thing after the patch.

My passenger record is 34 million credits taking in 4 places (2 in orbit visitor beacons, one ice geyser and a planetary VB) altogether 32 jumps @ 41LY max range in my AspX that took 52 minutes from start to finish. To get offered these high reward missions they are always given at my home base (Boom econ) and I have done 273 other passenger missions from there, building up the rewards offered as I did more. I also fitted an advanced discovery scanner as a side earner as I have visited loads of systems doing this. A by product of this has been to achieve an Elite Explorer rank without even realising it. Not sure if this will be affected in the upcoming release.
