Returning player needing advice!

Hi Cmdrs,

returning after a few years and have a couple of engineer missions. I have a Vulture and Viper MKiii. Not sure if I need to have a srv for these missions or if I can land with the Vulture. I was planning on putting a hangar into the ViperMKIII and attempting these missions but sure if that's overkill. I have the standard Felicity Farseer and Todd McQuinn missions. Any help is appreciated. Also when I stopped playing Powerplay was the big thing, is that not so anymore? What's the recomended gameplay style these days and from the Vulture how should I progress (Python obviously ship wise). Cheers Cmdrs!

The engineer unlock requirements are in your codex, you need a meta alloy for Farseer for example, which can be bought in Maia.

Which ship you progress to is all about what you like and what you want to do. Python's a good choice but there are many good ships in Elite. Identify a role or mission profile you want to do, and choose and tailor a ship to do it. Python can do many things well, transport, cargo runs, mining and even combat but of course there are better suited options. There are a number of new ships and the Krait line is one of the best in my view.

Thanks for the advice. I'm fairly combat orientated with some exploration and heavy power play. Took a while understanding all the new mechanics on the SRV especially the datalink scanner. I wish the devs would flesh that aspect ut a bit more.. it's fairly frustrating and alienating for players. I found no way to use the datalink scanner on the SRV and resorted to doing with my ship.
