Returning soon. Need advice.

I will be returning to the Bubble in a couple of days. I want to raise my rep with the Empire so I can buy a Cutter. Does it matter which world of the Empire I sell my exploration data to or can I just stop at the closest system to the edge of the Bubble and sell there?

Stop at the edge. That is what I did. You don't get much rep increase selling data, but you will become allied.

Kano would be a good system for you Roqinn. Its right on the edge. It has a station very close to jump in & It's Empire.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if I should go to Kano or not. I wasn't sure if it made a difference in selling price if I went to a world like Kano or went to a high tech world. Since it doesn't seem to make a difference, I will just hit the system closest to the edge.

If you are trying to gain rep with a major power then you need to get allied to as many associated minor factions as possible. If you just sell all your data to Kahn then you will get allied with them but make little impact with the Empire as a whole. Once you have sold enough to ally with Kahn you should move on to another Empire minor faction, get allied with them and move on, etc.

nb: to get the Cutter you'll need a specific Empire rank (Duke?) which you can only gain via missions. Selling data improves your reputation (neutral -> friendly -> ally) which might make it easier to get the ranking missions but that's all.

you get allied with a minor faction selling 6-7 mio. if you sell to three different imperial minor factions you will be allied with the empire. no increase of rank, though. also in 2.1 being allied with the major faction doesn't make you allied with all minors.

quince, or, depending on your loadout you will want to go in 2.1. to high security systems at the edge of the bubble like attacates.

Crap, I was hoping I wouldn't have to grind for rep and just selling 6 months worth of data would get me the rank I want. Looks like I'm going to actually have to work for a living *sigh*

I've got shields on my Asp, so I don't have to worry about dieing instantly if shot at.

So long as the AI isn't packing a bunch of overcharged lasers with various special effects and modified thrusters that make them stick to you like glue, mass-locking you while you desperately wait for your FSD to charge you should be fine. :D

I flew into Eleu, in open, in my shield less Hauler and didn't have any issues with NPCs or even cmdrs so worry not.
