Launching elite is 3 steps.
1) Launch the client, with small little windows, and even smaller pannels with galnet, news, server-status, launching different games, and other bits and bobs.
2) Launch the game into the main menu. (shaders and other bits and bobs).
3) Launch the game from the main menu.
In the past, the launcher running in the background with bugs has let to a little drain on resources (aka hitching)
So since you guys were revamping the main-screen, why not go one step further, have it you have it as a Community hub and wrapper for the game.
Nicking some ideas from "steam" as a game launcher.
Full-screen or windowed, hide/show windows as you like.
1) Forums.
2) Galnet.
3) News
4) server status
5) shop
6) standard launch menu stuff open/solo. (shader preparation tugging away in the background).
7) Options, graphics audio
8) Binds - export and import Key/joystick binds, (like the steam-controller binds for the steam client), to help players get some optimized binds from a mate. Or just upload and save alternative binds, that you might want to keep for prosperity.
