PvP Reverb Torps take the "E" out of ELITE

So you got interdicted by someone who decided "yes, that ship right there, the one with all the torpedoes, that ship is a good target for my ecm-less shieldtank. I will interdict that ship."

Winning a fight against someone who makes a decision like that doesn't mean your build is OP.

edit: same goes for the conda that was dumb enough to fly directly towards a reverski. They were practically waving a sign that read "torpedo me".

Usually those two aren't bad. No idea why Frantz ran into your torps. But I don't like them for always trying to literally gank 3 or 4 to 1.

Love your comment "evil german" by the way 😂

Does anyone know if mrps protect against torps to some degree? Like usualy four is enough but if they have mrps it could be 5 or 6 torps needed?

MRPs provide no protection vs torps. The only protection is evasion, PDT, targeting torps with missiles and high integrity FSD.

They don't protect against the shield gen specific damage that reverberating cascade causes, which targets the shield generator directly. They will reduce the module damage caused by any torpedoes that get through and actually explode against the hull though.

PDT, targeting torps with missiles

ECMs are generally more effective than PDTs...it takes a huge amount of PDT fire to knock out a torpedo. Shooting them with railguns or screening shell frags is also up there with seekers in effectiveness.

Fire and forget weapons are low tier.

Just saying.

I mean that's fine and I get what you're saying (and i totally respect that opinion).

Personally, I don't BM any weapon in any configuration. If the weapon gets the job done, then the weapon was fit for purpose. I mean what’s technically the deadliest weapon?

The one that kill you.

Besides combat in elite is a huge game of rock, paper, scissors anyway. There are so many different ways to counter everything. Torps would be OP if they weren't easy to avoid, but most players don't like thinking they got hit because they weren't strategic enough.

If we're talking about consenting PvP, then I can see the argument of enforcing certain rules within a regulated environment. But in most cases we're not, we're talking about effectively defending, deterring, hunting or whatever in open. I don't understand why people get salty about not being able to kill another CMDR against their will. I'm sorry next time I’ll be sure to run cargo missions in my PvP meta FDL.

You misunderstand me...

What im pointing out is that fire and forget weapons are simply lazy piloting.

Nothing more, nothing less.

But that is what I thought you meant. Maybe my response wasn't written out well enough to convey that. My apologies.

And yeah push button n done certianly is easy. Shame. I like explosions.

I never see anyone use ECM so they're easy to forget ;)
I think people would use ECM more if its detonation radius actually disrupted the missile/torpedo bay as well as the projectiles themselves, for as long as the ECM recharges (with 4 pips to system as default). As it stands, it takes too long to be an effective counter to the firerate of a single seeker bay, let alone a packhound one. If you want to properly avoid missiles and such, you must consider equiping PDT and an ECM.

I never go without one or two on trade ships as they are the best counter to hatchbreakers there is.

I don't think ECM was ever intended to be a counter to sustained seeker fire.

Do torps relock on their own? From what I've seen on packhouds they don't continue to seek me after I ECM them.

Yes, but there is no guarantee they lock on to the same target.

Very good point. With this setup I'm now sitting pretty vs a torp boat but 75% more susceptible vs everything else I'm more likely to face out there. Instead, I use those utility slots for shield boosters and evade/outrun the torps which is easy enough.

I tried undermining today in DBS with absolutely 0 mods except FSD, thinking about PvP in such setup i think that rock paper scissors is greatly reduced, amazingly even lasers are useful again, and so are small torpedo launchers, 120 or 240 explosive damage in one blow vs negative explosive resistance cant be ignored, with most medium ships boost capped below 400m/s evasion is no longer that easy...

Yes, the game's weapons were almost balanced before engineering.
