Revert Canopy Integrity Change and Stop driving away old players.

Let me start off by saying that its commendable that you at Fdev are trying to bring in new players as the fan base as been slowly declining; But now your making changes that are only hurting players to make things worse your trying to be sneaky about it by not even letting everyone know by putting these changes in patch notes. Reducing Canopy Integrity is not how you maintain your fan base especially with the DW2 Expedition half still out on the literal other side of the galaxy and the other half still making their way back. This on top of the fact that you folks keep introducing new bugs and fail to fix existing ones and the new ones. Instead of changing and nerfing things like Canopy Integrity why dont you focus your energy, time and focus on fixing the current bugs like the Constantly Resetting Power Priorities, or none existing mission descriptions.

Its been the policy of FDEvs for some time to strengthen anything PVP related and weaken all else, this includes fixing the bugs affecting PVP first and having the attitude we will get the the rest later. Not even a large part of the community complaining for a year, unless its PVP, effects this thought process.

Maybe they changed a bunch of things to see what was noticed, what people object to & what goes unnoticed or is liked.

And where did you see that the recent "fixes" and tweaks improve PvP? Is it the drag ammo that is way too OP to be used in competitive PvP? or the canopy integrity halved that just screws anyone using hulltanks/hybrids and forcing down everyone's throat the Rail/Plasma meta?
Or the carebear friendly medium ships with oversized internals just because? or the possibility to stack shield boosters and hull reinforcements ad infinitum, adding on top of this guardian modules to basically make balanced and interesting PvP encounters utterly pointless and only ended by either someone waking away or ending up at a stall because the ammo reserves didn't increase with the hitpoint inflation and making the only viable option to score a kill a gank with enough firepower to decimate the target before it can high-wake?

FDev doesn't give a hoot about PvP, or they would have taken into consideration the many many discussions and balancing suggestions the whole PvP community had over the years to improve the game for both PvE and PvP players, making it possible to have more varied builds and being at the same time viable in all types of activities.

Inform yourself before making assumptions about things you never touched even by far.

Shields wont do anything to prevent this either. The canopy is the only module that can be damaged through shields by phasing. You just have to know what module to sub target that is close to the canopy and pop, its gone. I like the change actually cant spam Plasmas all the time with no canopy as easily. I do agree it shold have been relayed to the community better though. While i do like the change for the reason of plasmas noted above, I also think they could have just done something to nerf plasmas directly if they wanted to mess with them. I am not saying that is why they even made this change i don't even think THEY know why they did it. I am not calling for a nerf to plasmas don't take it that way, it is just my personal opinion that i find the plasma meta to be quite boring. Yes I know there are other options, yes I know plasmas take more skill to use and should have better payoff bla bla bla. I know all that, I am just saying that I find them to be quite boring.

Yeah, I'm inclined to think this. Or that it's a bug introduced accidentally, like the 10 credit restock bug from 2015 that just resurfaced.

Funny, because i think PvPers have the opposite point of view, and while not a PvPer, so can only offer a layman's opinion, FD have make repeated changes to PvP that have made it worse, not better.

Its also quite possible that this change was unintentional. That they were changing something else and this was a knock on effect. It really shouldn't happen or even be possible, but when you've done a bit of coding with any sort of complex system, and if you have got some spaghetti code, all sort of strange things can happen.

Or maybe it was intentional, but it wasn't their aim to drive people away, i think that much is pretty certain. Perhaps ill concieved. I just can't imagine in my wildest dreams why someone would have thought this was a good idea.

My thought is, if it was intentional, that since some ships have notoriously weak canopies (AspX) they were equalizing things based on the lowest common denominator.

This change punishes players who are counting on their current build that worked well previously in difficult situations. AX conflict zones are already difficult, but having canopies crack open from damage that bypasses shields in a ship that has Military Grade, Engineered armor and a 24,000,000 rebuy isn't cool.

At the very least, allow that better armor would include a better quality of canopy glass thickness and quality.

Why even have a ship that can take punishment if the first thing to break is something that causes you to need to leave combat entirely?

This is a poor game design decision, and I dare you to put a player vote up on the subject if you think the majority of players don't agree with this post.

Phoo, you're not wrong. I remember last year and the year before it about this time when it was a PvP centric game when it came to gameplay changes, and now it's the opposite.

"The wheel turns, does it not?"
