revert to old map functionalities

Hello,
watching a lot of Gameplay videos from recent years and trying to follow tips from players I figured the Galaxy map functionality has been seriously crippled. I don't get why these decisions were made. The game feels more empty to me than it actually is, having a hard time enjoying the game without knowing what's going on in the galaxy, eG trying to find regions of civil unrest. Why does development not always go forward? Why cripple something that worked better before?

Ditto...The Gal map is pretty informative, and after you've become acquainted with it's many functions is reasonably easy to negotiate around....However...

At this moment in time there's still a slight bug with the system / star / galmap toggle resetting itself, so bear this in mind.

Would be nice it showed info for the non-controlling faction though.

Yeah... galmap filters are pretty buggy after the last update.

So nice my star type filters get cleared out every time I have to look something else up.
Also that selections don't even apply without zooming the map first to prevent it from resetting.
