General rework of reputation system

It's not realistic that you can be a Duke and admiral for two different factions, rather, when you try to get your reputation up for the empire/federation, then you should start losing your rep for the other factions if you grinned for any. And to further emphasis the impact of the rank you can have a different sort of greeting for when you enter a station in the empire system, depending on your rank and for the Duke, there is a slightly more luxurious looking landing pad or something small like a landing pad colour strip is different and other players can see it. . Also, because you can't access the higher class ships due to the rank system, have a way that you can buy the ship from a black market vendor and have those vendor going from place to place rather then being stuck in one place. or even go the point of entering the empire or fed space and doing a stealth mission or an all out strike mission with a squad, and a ship size and player numbers matter to steal the ship (that would be so cool) and then you have to take the ship to a remote station to store it and if you take it back to the fed space, you get scanned, you rep goes down or something or you get told to destroy the ship.
This would put more meaning behind what faction you choose to side with and any Community goals that have one faction going against the other makes it so that you choose the right faction or lose your rep for the faction you are allied to. you can have two CM's going in this time, one for the empire and fed, where the fed's trying to save the people fleeing from the empire space, and then the empire could be sending it's pilot's out to destroy the ships transporting the people. It makes for a much more amazing CG.

EDIT: Combat can be improved where the higher level rank players can get more dangerous ranked pirates that pay more or a group of pirates that you need a wing for. Whilst low rank means that you get low threat pirates and only single pirates to fight rather then groups

One more time. Honorary titles. They're not real ranks, just social rewards.
I actually agree with the OP on the one point, that it is odd to have max rep/titles with opposing factions, regardless of whether they are honorary or not. Most games with faction systems, do not allow it. Raising one, should tick off the other and result in lowered rep/rank.

First of all, I don't know what else you would associate to that then ranks, my bad, but realistically, it's what they are called even if they aren't meant as actual rank and rather social rewards

I agree with this statement, why does the game not explore the feature of reputation system between factions, where which faction you ally with or don't has a impact on the missions you can do, payouts you get, mission you get offered by people in stations and this would be a great feature for odyssey, if you take out all the individual in a settlement that's in an empire system, you reputation decreases slightly with them, but if you shut down the power and turn the settlement into a deserted state (or something) your reputation decreases even more. But if another commander comes in and restores the power to the settlement again, it increases the reputation with the controlling faction, but also with the empire. Or at the end of the day, the only point of those ranks is to be a grind, which has no means but get access to ships.
THE RANKS NEED TO ADD MORE WEIGHT TO YOUR GAMEPLAY, MAKE YOUR DECISIONS HAVE AN IMPACT, and a greater reward with that system.]

This. You are not getting military ranks because you are actually in the military, you get them because you are a member of the Pilots' Federation, which also grants membership to the Imperial Navy Auxiliary Force and the Federal Navy Auxiliary Force.
PS: If someone wants to suggest allowing you to actually join a military force: "Infinite Freedom - Blaze Your Own Trail" does not apply there.
