Rhino X55 help needed

On the topic of "just map it in ED" versus "use the HUD software", I do a mix. Most stuff I leave as default in the HUD s/w and thus just map the controls directly in ED. But I have some things like the throttle thumb rotary set to bands so I can access left/right panels with it. This seems to work slightly better than just mapping as an axis in ED (although I need to investigate a small tweak to it).

Also, I highly recommend using the HUD software to set/change the main joystick axes (including the twist) to an S curve. I have them set at '710'. Best to play around with what feels best to you. Remember you do need to apply changes for them to get programmed into the unit.

And, yeah, coming from an X45 ... I'm now struggling to find something to bind to a few X-55 controls, it's nice to not have to reach for the keyboard other than for chat/star searches in the galaxy map :) .

I'm neither of those chaps but I'm plugged directly in to my computer using USB 3 ports and have never seen the ghosting problem. I would suggest that a powered USB 3 hub would be your best bet if you don't have USB 3 ports available on your computer.

And once you're up and running with it you can use the link in my signature to print out a reference sheet; they do have a lot of buttons...

Thank you!
I'm running E:D on my laptop (Lenovo Ideapad 610p with twin GT755 cards) and the plan is to use the Chromecast or HDMI out for big screen fun. The actual desktop PC room has been repurposed as nursery so I got myself a decent laptop when it was time to upgrade. It has twin USB 3.0 ports so I wonder if I'll get ghosting - if so I'll have to buy a hub I guess.

X55 ordered today - roll on next week some time!

Happy New Year guys - 3301 isn't it?

My sons bought me a Rhino X55 Hotas for my 60th Birthday to replace the now failing T-Flight HOTAS I have been using.
Sad to say, I am having terrible problems with it to the extent that it is causing me a huge amout of grief.
It behaves unpredictably and seems to fire off commands I never requested and I am getting slaughtered out there.

Does anyone have an "Idiots Guide" to setup of this device with the HUD software or perhaps a "profile" file from a stable working system?

Starting with the Saitek X55 selected in ED's "Options" doesn't quite work as it stands.

Yes, I have searched the forums and seen the lovely Labelled artwork of people's set ups; but that doesn't program the actual device it just denotes what functions folks have allocated to buttons & switches and NOT how they programmed the MADCATZ HUD software or the resulting profile in the HUD software or in ED.

At the moment this lovely HOTAS is a paperweight on my desk.

Many thanks in advance for your considered replies.
If you want to try the software that came with it, then may I suggest watching this youtube vid:

Hmmmm... I'll be ordering one of these next week. Should I

(a) "Make sure it is in a USB 2.0" or
(b) "Make sure it is in a USB 3.0" port?

Did one of you chaps make a typo?

For me I had the ghosting problem when I plugged the X-55 into a USB port in the motherboard. I tried both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 on my motherboard but there was no difference. The thing that solved it for me was to plug it into an external USB hub. I also don't think it necessarily has to do with the USB power because my hub is unpowered and only driven by the motherboard on the same USB slot that previously had the ghosting error when connecting to the X-55 directly!
