Richard Feynman Eagle Extravaganza

The chatter and rumors are true. I am officially hosting a single elimination combat tournament on Saturday 4/18 at 21:00 Galactic standard time. Here is a list of all details and rules.

1) Eagles only with no limitations or restrictions on loadout outfitting.

2) There are 16 slots available plus 4 for alternates to cover no shows. Slots are filled on a first come first serve basis and as of this posting 3 have already been confirmed so don't wait if you are interested!

3) All matches will be held consecutively (15 total) with 4 rounds (8,4,2,1 matches in each) so the estimated total time for the event will be 2-3 hours. Myself and my team running the competition will keep things running quickly and smoothly throughout I personally guarantee.

4) The location will be kept secret until a hour before the match but players are recommended to have their Eagle in the Lave cross rare trading hub and ready to go. At the time the location is announced the participants need to check in ASAP.

5) If you do not check in by 20:45 game time at the appropriate assigned station then your spot will be forfeited to an alternate with no exceptions. If you aren't ready and on time, you don't get to compete. You are also required to have the 'report crimes against me' set to off under your functions tab in the right panel. It is extremely important to doublecheck as this can result in fining your opponent, slowing the tournament and causing you to be banned from all future Feynman hosted events.

6) Each match will begin with both Eagles tail to tail (like a duel) then will begin when the designated starter flashes his lights. Any tactics or style of loadouts are allowed with the exception that the pilots are required to not be in a wing during the combat. Completely even playing field, Mano e Mano!

7) Friends of all participants may also be invited and informed of the location once announced. If anyone wants to volunteer to film the matches I would love someone who knows how to edit and upload as I will be too busy running the show to film it.

Good luck to all of you that were born to pvp dogfight; and may the most Elite pilot win!
In the future we not only plan on hosting more skill based comps but expanding the formats to include wing teams 2v2 and 3v3 team pvp combat. Finally an even playing field for you to test your mettle!

Fyi my commanders name in game also Richard Feynman.

Sounds fun, I'm away this weekend so can't make it but I hope you get some good action there. A private group might be the way to go to avoid any potential cretins showing up though.

I'll check back next week for some vids maybe :)

I don't consider greifing a concern since we will have 20 bloodthirsty pvpers ready to swarm them lol. But your concerns are valid which is why we are keeping the location hush and we are also going to have internal security provided as well.

Will the battling eagles be in a wing together
to remove any bounty issues?

I like this BTW... Great initiative :)

I appreciate all of the support and comments!
I think lights will be fine, I'm going to be right above both ships as they are tail to tail...plus it's hard not to hear the other guy immediately thrusting away if you weren't paying attention lol

Thank you Mephane for reminding me to put the crime reporting setting off in the rules so I don't have to tell everyone. Updated!

I'm finding it hard to follow the rules. Could you please draw me a diagram.
That one was deserving of a rimshot played with bongos. Maybe we can study how light interacts with matter on a subatomic level when the lasers are melting each other's hulls.

We could have some cargo as a prize but honestly this isn't about money. It's about skill, fun and of course bragging rights. If we turn this into a regular thing we may soon know who the best Eagle pilots in the game are! Remember if anyone of you want to watch but don't necessarily want to compete let me know since we always need people to help. Mainly I need someone to volunteer do a shadowplay (or whatever) and edit so we can have each fight documented. Of course the pilots themselves are encouraged to record the fight so people can see the first person angle unless you think it will create a performance issue which may reduce your combat effectiveness. Purely voluntary but the more recording the better!

Sounds fun. I may be in.

Is it till death, or drop the hull below, say 20% percent? That, I would like more than blowing up others.

How about cheaters, how do you plan to prevent that?

Some additional rules that may increase the steaks.
Everyone brings 1 ton of Palladium as an entry fee and drop for the organizer.
When it is all done, the absolute winner gets to fill up his holds with Palladium. (2-4-6, depending on setup)
Then the guy who lost the last fight gets to pick up as many crates as he can hold.
The leftover is dropped for the guys who lost in the semi finals. The organizer can keep 4 tons for the effort.

It is a duel to the death not 20% because that would be too problematic resulting in difficult judgement calls and no sense of finality. Think of it as your Eagles insurance as your entry fee and not having to pay it is your prize. Dying won't be a problem either because contestants are required to dock at the nearby designated station in advance and it's only single elimination.

We won't be having a cash prize but keep in mind the is just the first. Based on what the people want moving forward is what they will be givin. I just want the entry threshold as cheap as possible (ie free) for the initial contest so people who aren't rich or are newer to the game still can enter.

Yo, Feynman.

Just like we talked about it ealier, if I would able to show up, I will. There is lots of Cmdrs, wich I would like to challenge on, on fair terms. No combat loggin, wing support or better/weaker ships. Just Eagles & skill. Losing Eagle or two is no big deal right?

For cash Prize, I can afford 50t of pallad for winner from my own wealth. That would be enough?

Great to see you ElPapo let me know as soon as you can if you can make it for sure; until then I will just keep you listed as an alternate. Combat logging won't be a problem because this is just for fun and honor. Not only would your name be mud but you would never get re-invited to any future Richard Feynman tournaments...were talking instant lifetime ban. I'm pretty careful to screen the contestants so we don't get any immature sore losers also.

Just make a disconnect an automatic loss, that way noone has anything to gain by doing it. With a large number of players in one place theres always a possibility of instance breakdown so banning people is a bit harsh.

BTW, Id like to sign up.
