ridiculous distance from star to station

Speed is related to gravity of nearby objects around you, as for deceleration, just keep speed to a point so it doesn't reach below 8 seconds of arrival time until you are close to the planet, then let it lower to six with a set blue throttle and approach destination?

Yeah, I know all about the blue zone mechanics. That's option C of my original response, which seems to put half the trip time into the last 10% of the distance. Reminds me of the joke about the scientist, the mechanical engineer and the mathematician.

The scientist is doing an experiment in which he puts a beautiful naked woman on a table, and tells the others they can approach the woman, but each second, they can only cover half the distance they traveled in the previous second.

The mathematician snorts derisively and turns to leave, exclaiming "This is ridiculous!"

The engineer says "you go, I'm staying."

"Why?" the mathematician asks, "you can only go half the distance each time, you'll never reach her!"

The engineer grins and says "I'll be close enough for practical application."

"Blue Zone mechanics" blue zone is your optimal speed, meaning where ship is easier to control, last I checked as well as helpful in terms of automatic slowdown and similar, you can easily go above said blue zone, heck full throttle to get to somewhere a lot faster, as long as you slow down appropriately it isn't an issue, and slowing down appropriately is just making sure time to arrival doesn't go below 8 seconds, while above the blue, then you settle into blue zone and cruise in? or at least that's how I've been using blue zone for ages, even if going above seems to cause wear and tear faster.

I was in sol when this post was started, and out of boredom i made the hutton orbital trip again. Roughly took me 1.5 hours to fly from alpha centauri to hutton orbital, my speed reached 1,800C in supercruise during this time. I got my hands on 30t of Hutton mugs lol and 7t of the Centauri mega gin. Fun little triva for those who are curious, the Hutton mugs are made from FSD plates salvaged from ships that ran out of fuel on the trip to hutton. The mugs apparently keep you drink warm longer due to the lingering FSD energies.

There is no better feeling than taking a mission to a system that you don't have the exploration data for, only to find out the outpost is orbiting a secondary star 200,000+ls away from the nav beacon.
It reminds me of all the times I would spend hours staring mindlessly at the windows starfield simulator screen saver because I'm so easily entertained.
The totally unresponsive supercruise throttle also adds to the immersion. Fantastic game design this is.

Hutton Orbital has the furthest distance currently at .22 LY from Alpha Centauri.
Sorry for necro, but this has really caught my attention. I just found 2 star systems that are 0.23 LY apart. Do you think it's possible to supercruise between them? Has anyone tried it.

You can supercruise to the point where the other system is supposed to be.
Nothing will be there until you make the hyperspace jump, which calculates fuel usage from point of origin (the system you last jumped into).

this 👆

With the mention that Santa Claus does not exist
Erm.. that's from another game, sorry

The point is - the hyperspace jump is just a loading screen in which the game prepares, generates and populates the system you are jumping into
All of it. So in that system you could navigate in normal space between planets if you want.

But, even if there is no limit (except onboard fuel) on how far you will fly in supecruise, you will never be able to reach another system since it's not generated, unless you actually do the hyperspace jump in it.
