Rift Loses IR Tracking

I've been putting up with this for a while, and it just occured to me to look for a fix, but:

I play the game using a DK2 (which is awesome!) But it often loses the IR tracking and falls back to gyro tracking with greyed out display. It's not an occlusion issue, as it never reaquires, unless I restart the game. Often it drops during the loading splash screens, the Oculus Safety Warning screen, or when watching the spinning ship. If I can get to the pilots chair with working tracking it almost always holds, occasionally dropping during really bad stutter.

Has anyone else had this issue, and how (have) did you solve it?

Make sure you are using the power cord that plugs into main Oculus cable, it says you don't have to use it, but some USB ports might not provide enough power or your system's USB hub might be overburdened. On that other note your USB hub ports may be limited. Try experimenting with another USB port that is either on the Front / Back of your machine. Most desktop computers have multiple USB hubs, and yes they can get overloaded. Try to also maybe unplug other USB devices that you're not using. (Rebooting your machine after unplugging these other USB devices also frees them up.) And finally, you can also try unplugging and plugging back in the Rift Cameras USB. I have to do this everytime I turn my machine on, for some reason the Oculus Service doesn't see my Camera until I reset the port it's plugged into. After that it continues to work, until the machine is shut-off. These are some of the tips I've discovered with the sometimes buggy Oculus tracking camera.

I have suddenly started to have this problem, too. Just started with the 2.0 beta. It runs fine for while and then loses connection to the camera. I will try some of the suggestions. Thanks for those.

Double check the power supply lead in to the camera.
My mate had installed a Rift and played for 2 weeks, with no apparent problems.
I went round there to find that the cameras blue light wasn't on and his Rift was all washed out as the camera wasn't tracking. He had no idea. The camera even showed up in the config util.
Turns out the power lead was not fully engaged.
Blew him away with the extra axis of movement and some nicer colours.

Right on, CMDR Raxxla!

Unplugged a couple of things, moved my wireless adapter to a different port, and I haven't seen a grey flash since, let alone lost tracking!

Pretty good news, since my computer doesn't meet the minimum spec they've just published for commercial VR, so I may be using the DK2 for a while!

That's great news that it's working! Great to hear that you're having a much better experience!
