Rift rear sensors seem to wake up after a while

Playing ED I face forward most of the time with the sensor in front of me. I'm pretty sure there are sensors in the back of the rift yet for some reason when I spin 180 degrees to look behind my chair the sensor does not pick up the main lights in the back of the rift ! At least, straight away. After a while of turning round 180 degrees clockwise and anti-clockwise it eventually seems to work.

Anyone else with this problem?

Yeah, I do a full rotation to "wake up" the rear sensors when I first jump into the cockpit.

It's strange that it only seems to happen in ED.

If I don't calibrate I get unsynchronised environment/HMD when I look over my shoulder.

weird, i never had to do that, wonder whats different?

I never had to do that either. I have noticed that if I take it off for a second and put it down (still in sensor range), when I put it back on, I might be looking the wrong way and have to re-center it. Sounds related.
