Rift S owner just aquired a hp reverb g2. What to expect

It should, in theory, auto download Windows Mixed Reality software. I allready had it from my previous WMR headset. Then you'll also want SteamVR. They have WMR for Steam also. I've got a 2080 and I like the G2. My 3yr old Dell WMR rig just gathered dust. I would sometimes use it if planning to dogfight in a maneuverable ship but otherwise I stuck with 2D. If your G2 appears to be DOA when you set it up double check the USB/Display Port plug where it connects to the visor. It can be VERY difficult to get it connected. There's a little index mark that needs to be flush with the edge of the visor when the padding. I'll attach a photo of mine to show you how far in it should be.
I've enjoyed ED with the G2, I use it all the time now. Very comfy and great sound. My Squadron guys say my voice sounds a lot better now.

Thanks I'm looking forward to it...should be here tomoz. As a long standing user of a Rift S I'll draw obvious comparisons for both use and install.

I have read there's tracking issues which might be patched now but I did have a minor concern.
The rift S is an excellent hmd and I wholly recommend it if the price is right.
Vr gaming sucks tbh. Nausea and the inability to move or aim properly.
None of these are issues in vr elite or vtol which are the two games I play on the rift S.
I'm really looking forward to the colours and resolution. I've no complaints with the oculus. It's a bit grainy not so colour like as other headsets. But boy does it run well. No lag wotsoever.
I was duelling a wingmate last night training and we had a ball. When l told him how good it was in vr I think I planted a seed in his head.....ha..!@
Bet he will have a hmd soon enuff.
The rift S is going to a good home.

Right it's arrived! And it worked perfectly as expected no issues at all. Fov seems identical to the rift S.
The resolution and clarity is just stunning. Didnt change any settings basic ones being hmd 1.50 and ss 1.0.
The lights on my carrier look fab. Details I never saw before on the rift. I can clearly see the ships. The planets sunrise etc in normal space and supercruise look lovely.
So yeah all round good egg.
So nows the time fdev to implement a grappling hook . And a bridge for our carriers !

Ok so I have a G2 and a quest 2 , coming from a rift CV1 the G2 Image quality was a glorious jump however I found the FOV sucked. I have since removed the face plate and attached an odyssey VR cushion and it has transformed the headset for me. A large increase in FOV and still have those gorgeous visuals. Alas my 1080ti was struggling so I have just in a moment of madness got a 3090 to run it. (I tried for ages to get a 3080 for under £750 and failed).
Huge buyers regret and I can't even use it yet as I don't have a good enough PSU. But I digress.
At stock the reverb G2 looks great with a rubbish FOV. With the mod it looks great and has a nice FOV***
For reference the quest 2 still looks good but not as good as the G2 and the FOV sits between the stock G2 and the modded G2

I ordered the Odyssey cushion set for my G2. Looking forward to seeing what difference it is. It's coming from Asia so I may have to wait awhile thou. From what you say it should be worth the $30.
Yeah I must admit I hesitated over the cost. You do get a spare face cushion to go with the package however. You can prolly get a cheaper one but I love mine. Oh don't forget to get your velcro to attach it . Don't cover the magnets and you can still put the factory faceplate on if you want.
