Yesterday I received a program update from NVIDIA Experience. Established. It has a new option. The program checked all the games on my computer that I run in the helmet in VR and told me the recommendations for settings and optimization of the game Elite Dangerous in the helmet Oculus S. I carefully read these recommendations - but did not dare to use them. It seems to me that the program underestimates the possibilities of VR in the helmet.

Yeah, I've seen this "optimize" screen in experience for a while, but they seem to have added a way to make it suggest for use of HMD systems.
I never found it to be very accurate, but in the case of elite dangerous, it does give a description of what some of the settings actually change in game; which is nice because the game does not tell us.
For me, these suggested settings have always been a little off. Since I've already fine-tuned my settings pretty well to my taste, I can say this optimization suggestion seems to turn lots of effects higher than I think they should be, and sacrifices resolution to make up for it by setting super sampling below 1.0
Personally, I think the game looks best when you can get FX to at least medium, shadows at least low, and then set super sampling as high as you can.
They are telling me to set SS to 0.8 and turn on AA to the highest setting.... So lots of blur but somehow still shimmery.
Anyway, I think it's kind of a gimmick.
