This is what I'd like to do : (Drawbacks from mods are after the benefits).


Ship Modification : Explorer : Fit Second FSD into Spare Slot same size as existing FSD for 25% increased jump range
Ship Modification : Agility : Ship Agility + 1 at the cost of 1 Internal slot (Size 3 or above)
Ship Modification : Trucker : Combine 1 Smaller and one Larger compartment to make 1 larger compartment that can only be used for Cargo (e.g: Combine Size 5 Slot + Size 6 Slot = Size 7 Cargo Slot : Increase of 32 tons total (from 96 to 128 tons)
Ship Modificaton : Warship : Remove 2 Internal Slots to gain 1 one weapon turret (2xSize 2 = 1 Small, 2x Size 3= 1 Medium, 2x Size 5 = 1 Large, 2x Size 6 = 1 Huge)
Ship Modification : Named Ship : Ship Appears with Name (eg. Anaconda (Star Explorer))
Ship Modification : Ice Cold : Heat Increase with Silent Running Enabled reduced at the cost of your largest internal compartment)
Ship Modification : Long haul Trucker : Cargo weight has 20% less affect on Jump distance.
Ship Modification : Dedicated Trucker: Permanently convert all internal compartments to cargo only, +20% Cargo Capacity : (No shields, no docking computer etc).




Modify Weapon : Damage + 10%, Damage +20%, Damage+30% (Increased Cap Usage)
Modify Weapon : Capacitor use -2%, -5%, -8% (Decreased Damage)
Modify Weapon : Heat -5%, -10%, -13%


Modify Frameshift Drive : Range +15%, Range +18%, Range +20% (Fuel Cost +2%, 4%, 10% on *all* jumps)
Modify Canopy : Bulletproof (+50% hp to canopy before breaking)


Modify Power Distributor Improve Weapon : +5% to weapon, Reduce 2.5% to Engine/System (Rank upgrades 1-3 for 5-15% increase)
Modify Power Distributor Improve System : +5% to weapon, Reduce 2.5% to Engine/Weapon (Rank upgrades 1-3 for 5-15% increase)
Modify Power Distributor Improve Engine : +5% to weapon, Reduce 2.5% to Weap/System (Rank upgrades 1-3 for 5-15% increase)


Modify Shield Generator (Improved +5%, +10%, +15%) : Increased Power Draw


Modify ShieldBooster : Shield Increase -50%, Resists + 10% (eg. for 0A Shield Booster)
Modify Thrusters + 5%/+10%/+15% - (Power Increase + 5%, +10%, +20%)


Modify Heatsink Launcher : +1, +2, +3 Additional Charges (Weight + 0.5t, +1t, +2t)
Modify Chaff : Increased Duration
Modify Shields : Damage Resists +5% +10% +15% (Power Draw increased by x%)


Each Modification increases Insurance cost appropriately (So a massively modded ship could cost a fortune to claim insurance on).. Or all mods are lost on ship destruction and you get a stock ship?

cant wait to see the anaconda with all internals more FSD's lookin like a dragster

many interesting ideas, some values just seem to be a bit over the top.

I just want a shielded cargo rack that makes it much harder to scan...& a device for sending out fake transponder signals...then you can call me Han Solo ;-).
 
Yup, I would not mind Juryrigging and custom refitting on modules but doing so gives the following:

-Insurance on module is voided
+Increased Stats
-More requirements (Power, Mass, Fuel etc)
-Random risk of malfunction (This is where we can add the FUN effects)

This could really benefit small ships that will not cost that much.

Truthfully, your estimation is underwhelming for fsd. With a 40 ly conda http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=706,mpa0Wg0Wg,2-6Q8S9Y8S2CD88I,53c0PAmpT0PAmpV0M27Q4mpT2UI , a 1800 optimum mass fsd gives me 40 ly with 564.1 tons. Since an anaconda with 1800 tons with the same fsd gives me 12.18 ly, so. (1800/564.1)*12.18=40 Now lets add a second fsd of the same type. (3600/604.1)*12.18=72 ly So its not quite double, but by all laws of physics, it is accurate.

Thats a lot more maths than I did :D I would have said there would be some loss of efficiency.

I've tried to put in some drawbacks. I think the ship modifications would be
  1. Expensive
  2. Non-Removable
