Community Event / Creation Rights to screenshots for commercial use

According to Media usage rules we can't use screenshots for commercial use, such as selling prints. I've contacted Frontier twice at the given email address, haven't heard back from them.

Any other way I can reach them?

you cant create and sell anything that has infringes on Frontiers IP.

so you cant make screenshots to print and sell.

basicly you can create but as soon as any money is exchanged even if its for postage or donating to a charity you cant do it.

Yes, that's what I said in the OP...

My question is who to contact to seek permission for commercial use, as I have not received response from the email given below.

Permission is needed from Frontier in advance, if you wish to use any of our game content for promotional or commercial ventures (this includes commercial websites). If this is something you wish to explore then please email community@frontier.co.uk.

And charity is not commercial use in most people's jargon, but that's another topic and for the lawyers.

Doesn't this suggest your answer? Not knowing how long ago you emailed them, assuming you used that address, it's difficult to know if you are being unreasonable in your expectations. Give them time, or try again at that address.

I sent them mails on June 26th and July 4th. I'll try again.

I've also emailed Frontier twice with questions about commercial use, I want to promote the Voice packs I'm creating and I want to use in game footage to do so, but I havent had a response at all.

if your going to be making money from this then it will be a No from frontier, if its all free on the other hand then you should be ok.
as long as you credit FD with the correct info.

Frontier is a business, so that statement doesn't make much sense.

Frontier is a business and will have many deals in the pipeline probably under negotiation. Elite is a brand they will want to protect especially in the early days of a new project like ED.

You will need a licence and that will cost you money. As you say, Frontier is a business. You will need to indicate why they should contract with you - what is in it for them? Are you asking for a non-royalty proposal (in which case your licence will be expensive upfront like the books) or a royalty payments/profit sharing licence? Have you done some market analysis on the number of units you expect to sell, and at what cost etc?

And charity is absolutely commercial use, it just has different tax laws.

Cheers,

Drew.

Not sure what your point is. This is exactly why I'm trying to contact them, to ask for their terms.

I think you're misusing the word jargon... The set of people who would use 'commercial use' as part of their jargon would recognise that raising money for charity counts as commercial use.

Also, when did you first make contact? If it was just before the weekend, give it a few days...
